Christians say God is always there. That God can only do so much, because there is sin in the world. That because there is sin in the world, that's why crap can happen.

If God is really there for people, why can innocent kids get hurt and abused?

I think a lot of Christianity is rediculous. How can God, who can supposedly do anything, and has all power, stand by and watch innocent people and children get hurt, killed, abused ... etc.

If bad things happen to people so they can learn ... how can God expect a newborn baby to "learn" from being very ill?

Well, luvdalz68, if that is the case, than what is the purpose of God letting babies get sick and die?

Whoa, wait a minute there. The same God that created the entire unknowable universe in all its infinite complexity with a wave of his mighty hand and force of his will CAN ONLY DO SO MUCH FOR ONE TINY PLANET?

Careful, you're asking questions that put you on the path of logic, and may subsequently open your eyes to the truth that YOU are the power in your life, not God.

Try it for a while- don't ask God for ANYTHING, and work harder to accomplish things for yourself. I'm not saying stop believing in God, just be self-sufficient. Then decide how big a role God plays in your life, really.

Many times we cannot see the wood for the trees. God loves us but he also expects us to take a certain amount of responsibility for our actions. We will never be faced with more than we can handle even though at the time we may think so. If we have a hard life, it is a gift. We learn from trials. If your life were easy not only would it be boring but chances are you would never aim for anything higher therefore you would never progress spiritually, mentally or otherwise.

How can innocent kids get hurt and abused? This is not down to God, it is down to the people who perpetrate the acts. As I said in the beginning, God does expect us to take responsibility for our acts. Even in adversity you can choose to see your drinking glass half full or half empty. It's also about you and your attitude to things, it's not necessarily down to God.

There is the story of a man on a roof in a flood waiting for God to rescue him. He let two boats who came to get him go by and turned down the offer of a helicopter. When he got to heaven he said, "God!Why didn't you save me?" God said, "I sent you 2 boats and a helicopter, you sent them away....what more could I have done for you?"

The point I am trying to make here is, "look around you!" Help can come from all kinds of sources if you are just willing to open your eyes! Ask, and you will receive...............

Whoever said that we were entitled to a pain-free life? Suffering makes us stronger for the Kingdom of Heaven. It's like a sword that is put through a blacksmith's fire repeatedly, and beaten over and over again, until the impurities are gone and it's quality is superb.
The other day I heard the story about a pious Christian man who had been diagnosed with cancer. He had only 6 mos. to live, but every time people saw him, he was always happy! People asked him, "Why are you so happy? Are you crazy?" He said, "Because I know that God is in control." He was not afraid to die. This man's attitude actually helped to lead others to Christ. Then his cancer went into remission, and he lived for another 6 years. Eventually, the cancer came back. The doctors offered him a life-extending therapy, but he refused. He said, "I'm ready to go now." So he died happy.
God allows suffering to happen because He wants us to stop thinking about ourselves and put all of our burden upon Him and trust in Him, no matter how bad it gets. The "Woe is me" mentality is actually a form of pride, which God detests.
Also, we are told that the sufferings of this world are not even worthy to be compared with the glory of Heaven. When we get there, it will be as if we never suffered.

You're right, it is a terrible thing when innocent children are hurt and abused. However, we all lose our innocence one way or another.

I am a spiritual agnostic. I don't believe in the existence of God but I do have some of the morality of a Christian.

I encourage you and anyone else to seek truth for yourself.

Bear in mind that it is not God that is sinning, but rather mankind. And mankind is not so nice many of the times either. We pray that God will one day intervene, but it has to be in HIS timming.
Its not always fun seeing the way things are in this world but it has to be until God Does HIS thing for this world.
It won't be too long either. It will begin happening soon.

If you believe in God, you also have to believe in satan.

Why are you blaming God for all these things?
Do you know that 95% of the bad things that happen in this world is as a result of man's sin.

The devil comes to kill, steal and destroy, but Jesus said, I have come to give life in abundance (eternal life).

We got given the dominion over the earth, G does'nt come here or intervene without an invitation (prayer) & when He does come/intervene, it's to tell you what to do about the situation.

I don't mean to be presumptuous.....but if you are having a serious problem there are a lot of people who can help you and will be there for you. I'll be happy to refer you to someone if you send me an e-mail. If I mis-read this, I apologize.

That is the devil working not God.Perhaps bad things happen to you because you are being tested.I use to think God hated me,but I realized I was not totally a believer.I now know that God loves me and sometimes bad things happen because it is just life.I hope things turn around for you and you begin to feel blessed.
