So our cat figured out that rattling the blinds will annoy us enough to get up and feed him in the morning. Haha, very clever. He used to only do this after the alarm clock, now he is starting to do it as early as 330 am... I'm guesing whenver he get's hungry. We've tried blocking his acess to the window, but he pushes thru. Feeding him is the only way to get him to stop, but I'm know it only encourages him. What to do?

Leave plenty of dry food and water available at all times. I have 2 dishes of dry food out at all times and change the water dishes every night to ensure they are getting plenty of water. The kids have decided that they are happy with this arrangement. We have a special time for treats. That is bed time and they all know when to head to the bedroom for those.

It will probably take some time to break him of the habit but you can do it. Just ignore him or at least head to the dish of dry food to make sure he knows it is there.

Good luck!

A good solution would be to get a feeder that looks like a small water bottle. You fill it up, and the supply lasts for a few days, that way you dont have to keep feeding and feeding him. I have one for my cat when I go out of town :-)

Mine does the same thing and I don't feed him. I started using a water spray bottle and put it by my bed as soon as he starts I squirt him and he runs away. He doesn't do it as much. It's just every now and then - I think he forgets about the spray bottle. They can sure pick up some bad habits. Those pesky cats! gotta love em.

Suck it up, and ignore it. you will have to suffer through some noisy nights until he realizes it doesn't work

Also, make sure you have dry cat food out all the time. Cats are not like dogs, and unless on a special diet, can have dry food out all day, as they prefer to eat a few small bites here and there.

Wow. Thats one smart cat! if he does it before the alarm, put him in a kennel some where you won't here him if he yowels. Or you could just ignore him. If its possible.

I had a cat that figured this one out too. You can (a) ignore it and he'll figure out eventually it doesn't work; or (b) confine him to another room at bedtime. We finally conceded and he sleeps in another room now.
