I'm scared that if he dislikes me, he may tell other professors and students, all of whom know each other at a small college.

Honey, he's the one more at risk than you are. I would be direct and tell him something like, "I don't know that this is real or just my imagination, but I kinda think you like me. It doesn't really matter because I think you're a great a teacher, but I am not open to anything more. I just want to be another person in your class. I just wanted to tell you in case you get the wrong idea about me. Thanks. See you in class."

Of course the nicer you say it the less impact there will be, but you have to be firm with your statement that you want to cut anything off that might be brewing. If you're too nice, he may think you're trying to entice him by talking about a possible relationship. There's a quote from a movie, "Your lips say no, but your eyes say yes!" You don't want him to get that impression.

If he tries to change your mind or continues to act the same way, threaten him with reporting him to the dean of students. Then the police. This will scare him because he would probably lose his job. Each successive step in your interaction about this issue should be more definitive and more threatening to him.

Sorry, but you have to protect your person and your self esteem before protecting your grades.

Oh, and have a friend be there within earshot so you have verification of what you said.

First of all, you should tell a superior, such as the dean or the head of the department. If the professor has done inappropriate things, like give you gifts, unwanted attention, or other things, tell the superior.
After that, you can either withdraw from the class, tell the professor that you are "flattered, but you are currently in a relationship" even if you are not, or report him to his superiors.

That's kinda weird. But here's waht you should do I had a teacher like this even after I met my bf he kept on looking at me and talking to me alone it was creepy. Don't tell him you don't like him, he might try to give you a bad grade. Just be nice to him, don't give him indication that you like him though. If he tries to ask you out or something just politly say no and tell another professor. The aren't allowed to do anything like that to the students he could get in trouble for that.

Make friends with one of the bigger guys on the sport teams. Kiss each other in front of the prof. He'll get the point and leave you alone.

Are you sure he has a crush on you?
You should tell the other proffesors about it and warn students.
