Toothpaste actually does work great on pimples but it does take a few days for it to work. If you are looking for something to work pretty much over night get the treetea oil from aveda.com for this and other great hints and tricks go to www.womenshelp.net

Toothpaste works on pimples by cleaning them so well that they fall off. Since only dirty people get pimples the toothpaste changes their 'ground reality' (ie your face although I hear very dirty people get them on their back also). The fluride in the toothpaste also has the bonus side effect of being very healthy for your bones. Thats why they put it in drinking water.
However, perhaps the most obvious evidence that toothpaste is effective on pimples is the simple fact that I've never seen anyone with spotty teeth. Pimples simply dont grow on tooth enamel because of the prevalence of toothpaste in our culture

Kind of depends on the kind of pimple/spot. If it's a real whopper, full of grease etc then it may be too late. But I've certainly found that if I see the little giveaway red dot on my skin which suggests one is coming, and I put a blob of toothpaste on it at night, it certainly dries it out by the next morning.
But I definitely prefer tea tree oil!

Its better to use CLearisil. It is formulated to dry out the pimple, whereas toothpaste isn't for skin. Plus, cinnamon flavored toothpaste burns!

Toothpaste does help to dry out the fluid but a lot of other things do the same.

Toothpaste has some inredients like bicarbonate which dry the pimple, yes, it works, but it wo't help solving the problem... you need to wash your face frequently with a neutral soap, and never, ever touch it with your hands if they are not clean...

From experience i'd have to say yes. Now it doesn't make the spot disappear completely but it does dry them up so that you can resist the urge to squeez the thing!! And within a day or two, the spot is gone and your minus the red mark on your face from trying to pop it!

toothpaste has no effect on the skin at all its key ingredients are calcifying agents and a string of chemicals that fight to remove plaque and bacteria.
they have no effect on areas outside of the mouth
