The Chemlawn people put fertilizer on our grass, and without thinking, I let my dog out into the yard just a few hours later. She was nibbling/licking the grass. After about 3 minutes, I figured out what had happened, and let her back inside. She's shown no symptoms (except maybe thirst?) in the past 5 minutes, whatever that means.

Call the Chemlawn people ask if the fertilizer had any toxins in it and or if it is pet safe --always ask before having any chemicals to be sprayed or put down in the yards. Most times they have other items they can put down that are pet safe. I would also call the vet for help. Especially if the Chem people are closed for the day.

Be safe, not sorry and call Chemlawn IMMEDIATELY and find out the name of the chemicals they used on your grass and then call the vet just as fast and explain what happened. Let your vet be the one to tell you if there is nothing to worry about, not Chemlawn and not a vet tech. If there is grub killer or other pesticide mixed in with the fertilizer,or certain chemically derived fertilizers were applied, it could be a heath issue that won't show up for a few days. If what she ingested is poisonous, the sooner she is treated the better. Also keep in mind that those chemicals are on her feet and she will be further exposed when she grooms herself. This is the same reason why my brother had to put his Golden Retreiver down a few years back. If he called the day it happened and not wait until after the holiday weekend she could have been saved.

The usual stuff they use is not toxic unless ingested in large amounts (say if she got into a bag of it) but it would be a good idea to call the company and ask exactly what they put down today. They are required to keep MSDS sheets on the chemicals, and those should say if there is a risk to animals.

If a professional fertilized your yard you should be able to call them & see if they use pet friendly fertilizer. If she throws up a lot take her to the vet.If she just throws up once she's probably cleaned it out of her system.Good Luck

the stuff could be non- toxic but i would not take the chance. induce vomiting my taking a syringe and squeezing milk into her thought, or pull that funny thing in her thought. then call a vet immediately!!!
