I know exactly how you feel... One time I was a bridesmaid and the bride wanted everyone to have curly locks of hair. Mine wouldn't stay curled for more that 10 min. (evern with like 3 bottels of hair spray on it!) So I had to curl my hair right before the cermony! It was such a hassle.

Since then I have discovered a few tips for curly hair.

What kind of curls are you wanting though? Do you want to wet look or the dry look?

The wet look is easy go to Target or Wal-mart some place like that and buy the Hard Curl gel and the Wet Look spray from Garnier Fructis. As soon as you get out of the shower towel dry you hair for 2min. Moose your hair with any moose I use Garnier Fructis extreme hold. Then add the hard Curl gel all over and I guess "toss" your hair. You can also use regular hair gel for more of a hold. Towel dry your hair for about 5min. Spray the Wet Look spray (this is like a gel) so you can spray it on your hands and rub it through you hair. Next put you hair up in the towel for 20-30min. Put your hair down and spray it with hair spray. Your hair will still be wet. You can either go out with it wet or blow dry you hair on low heat.

The dry look is harder to keep it curly. I wash my hair with any brand of curling shampoo. For better results go with the expensive one. Wring out your hair to get most of the water out. Then blow dry your hair. After that roll your hair with hot curlers, I use the conair brand. For better results have a friend roll your hair. Let your hair stay in the curlers for about 10 min. longer than the directions on the box. (The longer you leave them in the more curly hair you'll get and it will stay curly longer too.) Use hair spray when you take the curlers out.

I hope this helps...

I started curling my hair a couple years ago using a curling iron...and this technique works for me every time. Sounds like I have the same length hair as you as well... 1) Part your hair where you like it. 2) Start with one side, and take sections of hair that are somewhat thin, but are 2 or 3 inches wide. 3) Curl the hair by placing the curling iron at the top of your head, DON'T open the clasp....just leave it shut. And wrap the hair around the barrel from the top to the bottom. It sounds like you were opening the clasp, and then rolling the hair from the bottom to the top. Since your not using the clasp, you'll have to hold the end of the section of hair in place, but I find this works much better. 4) Hold the hair and curling iron in place for 10-15 seconds per section of hair. 5) Continue this until all hair is curled, then toss curls so that they are more natural looking! I don't use any product, and my hair stays put all day...but you might want to set lightly with hairspray when finished. Hope this helps!

You mentioned you have 3 different curling irons? Are they all the same size? If so, you'll need a medium sized iron for your medium length hair. Divide your hair in sections with a hair clip. Take small sections at a time for tighter curls, medium sections for looser curls. Hold the curling iron on each section for a few minutes, the longer you hold it there, the longer the curls will stay in.. A few tips, if you have super straight hair, spray the hair w/styling spray before curling that section. For wavy or curly hair spray styling spray after you are done curling all of you hair. It takes practice, there's nothing you can buy to make romantic curls. A simple curling iron can do wonders if you know how to use it. It took me a few times until I got it right! Good luck!

Have you tried hot curlers or tried spraying a little hair spray on your hair while the curling iron is on the hair? If you do the latter just remember to not use too much as the hair could stick too much to the curling iron. Another way is to spray the hair spray lightly over the hair before using the curling iron.
A blunt cut on fine thin hair also makes it seem fuller about medium length.
Good Luck.

make sure your hair is completely dry, then clip up the top half and work and the bottom first. grab small section and keep the curling iron on there for 30 seconds continue this working your way up to the top. when your done flip your head over and spray hairspray all over (vavoom brand its a long black bottle sold at sallys beauty supply)then blow dry it so the hairspray dont stay wet. and you'll have beautiful curls!

Wash your hair at night, then braid it in either one long braid or pigtail braids (my preference) I suggest french braid style for more curls but normal braids work too. Anyway, in the morning when the braid(s) are dry, take them out (your hair should look naturally curly) and put in a little hairspray to hold the curls. Good luck! :)

I read in cosmo last month how to curl hair and the best way is to use those old fashioned curlers....I'm pretty sure if you have thin hair the best way is to use the huge ones you can also research it online

I would go with a volumizing product before hand and maybe try a little hairspray when you are curling it.
