I am also a Freemason (and Royal Arch)and all you are doing asking these questions is giving the ignorant a big stick which they can beat you with.
Dont worry about it , concentrate on enjoying the craft and the fellowship it brings.
We are not a religion so let it go; by the way Lucifer is the latin word for light or lightbearer.
There is a lot of good stuff out there about Freemsonry. Freemasons have been around for Centuries and will continue to be around for centuries more.

So let's make it clear right here and now: Freemasonry has nothing - absolutely nothing - to do with Satan, or anything else of that nature. First, in order to become a Mason, one must profess a belief in a Supreme Being. While someone might want to argue that Satan could be considered "Supreme", the fact of the matter is that the entire process of application would discourage someone with behavior which is so deviate from societal norms. Plus most would also consider Satan, the devil or Lucifer or whatever to be subordinate to God by most definitions if you believe the Biblical stories. Angels are beings somewhere between God and man. Lucifer or Satan was an angel that rebelled against God and was cast out of heaven. Certainly not a Supreme Being by any stretch of the imagination. But let's examine this further: would a person who might enjoy blaspheming God want to join a group which has an open Bible in the Lodge room? Would a person who thinks the Devil guides their actions want to stand and pray to the Supreme Architect of the Universe for help and guidance in his life? Would a person who would find pleasure in debasing Deity feel comfortable around a group of men, nearly all of whom were active in the practice of their faith and many of whom were leaders in their Church, Synagogue, or Mosque? The only answer is - of course not! But what about the bizarre claim that all Freemasons are actually Satanists or worshiping Satan? All one needs is a little common sense to debunk that foolishness. Don't you think that if such a thing WERE going on that there would be FAR more men leaving the organization - and speaking loudly about it? Do you really imagine that millions of men are so schizophrenic that they could worship with their families in their church, synagogue or mosque and then attend a lodge meeting to revile God just a few days later? Please use common sense and it may be a good hing to go to the local library and check out a book or two on this subject. Please do not relay on UBoob videos and the Internet for reliable information.

Don't ask for "proof" on this board...you'll get more than you bargain for, and most will be nothing but recycled lies spread by other religions that don't know the truth from within.
I'm not bitter in the least...I was raised Christian and was "educated" about the inner workings of all the "wrong" religions out there. I was able to break loose and see for myself what was true and what wasn't. They were so wrong. That's all I'm gonna say about that. Anything further will lead to a screaming match from the peanut gallery ;)
Point being, I'm now a newly baptized Latter Day Saint. Like you, it is poorly understood, therefore will draw countless criticisms, most of it from people in other religions that are teaching what they have been taught, which may or may not be correct. (ie being a cult, Mormon polygamy, etc) Most people see "sacred" as being "secret", therefore "occult" which is "wrong". Hmmmm...human logic, I suppose.
Point being, don't look for proof from anyone that isn't in the religion themselves. As they say, take it straight from the horse's mouth.
Blessings

You know I'm of a different religion, but I can totally empathize with you about the whole people going to the wrong sources, or coming up with all sorts of odd ideas about your faith.
I know it can hurt your feelings when it's something you feel is sacred and important. Keep in mind, even when there are bashing questions, there are those of us reading that would love to see the clarifications the actual members of these religions have to offer, and are paying more attention to what you- the actual member - has to say.

I'm a former member of Job's Daughters. We dealt with the same thing. Every fraternal organization has it's rumors, satan worship, murder, etc. Don't think Jobies did though. It just goes with the territory unfortunately. Oh and the KKK started as a fraternal organization, it just got twisted into the racist crap it is today.

to those answers who seem to think Freemasonry is a Religion... that is not so. Although you were wrong and we are not a religion I do appreciate your kindness and open mind DaisyK and SilverWolf... it is very refreshing.

Freemasons worship Satan (Lucifer), but few know it until you get to the 33rd degree. Everyone below is considered "useful idiots".
And if you don't want to hear about Pike, then you're just self-deceived, and don't want the truth. Or, you're one of their useful idiots. Albert Pike, who founded the KKK, is considered the "premiere" freemason, and he is an outspoken satanist. Google it, you'll see what I mean.

Are you or are you not required to bow before an unknown god. Are you or are you not required to meet in secret. Both are addressed in the Bible.
Just go to eBay and enter Freemason and you can find many books on the occult.
