In other words, from a single point what is the longest possible and/or existing cantilever. This is excluding examples such as roof spans and bridges which cover two points. Thanks for your help

The empire state building or any tall skinny structure is the longest cantilever.
Many cantilever structures are vertical, like the poles for a pole barn.
You can have as long a cantilever as you wish, if you want to pay for it and you have the real estate for the overhang.
Your question asked for the longest. How long do you want it?

Cantilevers as you know has tree points , one the under side support , second the side that is buried under a mountain of weight the side that is not cantilevered , and third the cantilevered side that is free in the air under side and is the part that will be caring the load on top ... , now that said you have to calculate the weight you are going to put on the cantilevered part , then the most obvious material to make a cantilever is a steel I -beam , but you have to calculate the tensile vertical bending strength of the beam on the horizontal position , fro there lets say you want to cantilever 20' .. twenty feet free by the thickens of the I-beam , from the furthest out towards the inside you have your wall support , the beginning of the cantilever , you have to extend the same amount of beam towards the inside of the buried part , so the weight on it is grater than what it caries on the free side by at least 2/3 more , so cantilevers on any building depends on the design and cost restrains you can cantilever 50' but further you go out bigger the I-beam, heavier the supports are needed , have you seen the cantilever construction when a concrete bridge is built over a span , between piers ,and before the center expanse is put in place , they have reached easily over 100' .

Check out Frank Loyd Wright's Fallingwater in PEnnsylvania. It is a house cantilevered out of a mountainside with a stream running under and into the house. I believe some of the cantilevers extend up to 80' at Fallingwater. LArger spans are possible depending on the material and section properties of the main load carrying member.

The worlds largest cantilever bridge. I hope I remembered this correctly. 274 feet swing bridge. in Min. It is operated by hydraulics. I saw it on T.V program, How it was done.It cost $30,000,000.00 to build.

How long, in terms of possibilities? Or, how long, in terms of existing structures in the world?
