not against drivers such as Juan Pablo Montoya, Aric Almirola, and some other non-American drivers coming into the sport. Also why aren't the against going to Mexico or Canada to race. Personally I'm not against the drivers, or Toyota, I'm only against Mexico and Canada, because they are going to be taking away dates from tracks that should keep the dates. I know currently the Busch series have them on off weekends, but I know once it gets to Cup, I forsee losing Darlington or another track, that only has one date.
I'm just curious as to why fans are against Toyota, but not the other things I mentioned?

I don't know how I got them mixed up, but for some reason it's not the first time I've done that.

So far pretty good points everybody, and DW did run a couple races in a toyota, I know for sure he ran the 11 for a few races. But another question i agree Toyota is a foreign manufacture, but based on namesake only. The Toyota's NASCAR has are more American than Dodge, Ford, and Chevy. I know the Fords are made in Mexico, I can't recall the Chevy's but I also know Dodge has been bought out be a German company.

Because they represent advancement in Automotive Technology and American Firms (Ford & GM) do not. Just look whats happening in the market place, they are getting thier butt's kicked. They don't want the same to happen on the track. You know it will.

A number of reasons - first, despite the fact that many Toyota cars are made in America by American workers while many cars from American manufacturers are made outside of the US, there is a perception that Toyota is the outsider "invading" the US Sport. And that as such, they do not belong.
Connected to that is the fear that Toyota represents an invader which could be very successful. On a global scale, Toyota is an extremely successful automaker, and with the current exception of Formula 1, they have been successful at pretty much everything they've tried. They have a great attention to detail and vast resources - these could make them more than just competitive, and at the expense of the aforementioned "American" makers.
And also, along with other moves (Montoya coming on board and a few races now outside of America), it signals that NASCAR management is now making an effort to be more international. While there is no doubt that NASCAR is healthy as a sport, there are the early signs of some degradation of the American market which at best signal the end of the great growth they've enjoyed in recent years. For NASCAR, it is clear that the hope to continue great growth is to expand the market... which feeds back into the beliefs previously mentioned about this being owned by Americans.
In the end, all of these things will probably prove to be very good for the sport, though they will bring some changes and some will not be happy with how things evolve.

Being a Canadian fan, I think the American NASCAR fans are against Toyota because they see it as a Japanese encroachment on a hallowed American pastime. No foreigners allowed. I think that's narrow-minded, myself, but don't shoot me for saying so -- remember, I'm just a Canadian. ;)
All this talk about Toyota is going to be moot in the next couple of years, anyway. It just won't matter.
Why?
For years, you could tell the difference between the cars on the track just be glancing at them. The Chevys, the Fords, the Chryslers -- they all looked different from one another. They were true stock cars; they looked like cars you could buy right off the dealer's lot. The Chevy that was ripping up the track on Sunday was the same one you could buy at Honest Dave's Car Sales on Monday. It's not like that anymore, and hasn't been for a long time. All the cars look pretty much the same, except for small technical differences that you really only notice if you know what you are looking for.
The Car Of Tomorrow is going to eventually take over, and will probably cause the withdrawal of the manufacturers as sponsors. It's not even all that fiscally lucrative for the manufacturers to be involved NOW, what with the cars all looking the same as one another. You certainly can't go down to Honest Dave's today and buy the same car that Jimmie Johnson or Elliott Sadler drive. Being involved with NASCAR now does little to increase car sales, and the COT will erode that away completely. Then there won't be any manufacturer sponsors, and Toyota will be out of the picture again.
So let's all just let it go. Let Toyota run their course (so to speak), and enjoy the racing. I don't care if Kia suddenly sponsors a team -- as long as they're racing the way I like to see 'em race.

Yeah, it does seem rather ignorant all the hate against Toyota being in the Nextel Cup and bit hypocritical. While Ford is closing plants in America and opening up shop in Mexico; Toyota is making a majority of what it sells in the US right here in the US.
NASCAR has changed and so have it's Fans. With Toyota's Employment of so many American's it would be Un-american not allow those Workers to have their product featured in America's greatest racing series.
It seems hypocritical of some Fans to say Toyota is Un-american and NASCAR is for American's only. Well, with all the American's that Ford just Un-employed; how American is that? How about GM? They just laid off a bunch of American Workers. Ask those people how American they thing Ford and Chevy are?
Chrysler; though German owned now still maintains a high number of American Workers. Funny; the Japanese and German owned Companies employ Americans while the American owned Companies lay American's off at wholesale. Yeah, I see the All-American in that.
It's time these Fans stop being such hypocritics and get with the program. NASCAR is changing; America is changing; things in life change. Like it or not Toyota is in and I think NASCAR and America are better for it.

To answer this question, one must look to the roots of Nascar, Good ol southern boys having some good American fun. Toyota is a step away from the roots. Jeff Gordon really started bringing nascar to a different class. "He stole Nascar from the south" is how many southerners would feel. Now what does this have to do with Toyota. Well, Toyota racing in Nascar will completely obliverate any shred of what nascar racing is about. Nascar is now something so huge, that no one really recalls the past. They are bringing in new fans, fans that don't know anything about nascar. These new fans don't think anything of Toyota racing in the series. Its great that threre are new fans to Nascar and all but Nascar has sold itself out to gain fans.

They where only going to have 3 teams and now they have 7. They paid D.J 11 millinon dollars to join there team. Toyota has more money then most of the owners do and they are going to use that against the other owners. they also got the president of ford chevy and dodge racing all to join there team by offering htem big bucks. Because they have seen whats happened to other series and realize that within 5 years american auto manufacturers wont be able to win over toyota in the series. Just be glad Honda isnt entering into at the same time Toyota is or else it would happen this year.
Going to other countries is nothing because it doesnt mean what you have been watching for years is inferior, but watching what you have loved for years get beat every week by foreign manufacturers is crushing.

Ok...Toyota has plants here in the U.S. but they are ASSEMBLED here in the states. The corporate H.Q. is in Japan..NOT THE U.S. and the bulk of the money that is made from Toyota suports JAPAN NOT THE U.S. and like it was mentioned earlier..they dont even use thier engines..there wanna be chevy mods. As far as the drivers go NASCAR uses foreign drivers to integrate the sport.

Not sure why because Toyota's in the Craftsman Truck series. Maybe people who watch pickup truck racing are more liberal than stock car fans. I think even DW has driven a Toyota truck.
