I am a person who does not know how to cook well. I can cook, but need a recipe in front of me to follow. I need a website where I can look up basic things, like how long to boil eggs, how to boil potatoes, etc. Most of the sites skip the basics. Thank you!

I know that I still have very first Betty Crocker Cookbook that my Grandma gave me when I was 12 and my Mom has hers from the 60's. It has all the basic info you will probably ever need, along with so may staple recipes, it's not even funny. New editions come out quite often, so I would definitely recommend getting one for yourself. I know this isn't a website like you asked for, but I promise that you won't be dissapointed.

If you need something right away, give this a shot:

Try www. epicurious.com. Most of the recipes are detailed and they have excellent resources on how to do many of the things you need to know in a kitchen.

At least you recognize the one basic thing about cooking. You can be a good cook, even a great cook, if all you know how to do is read and follow instructions.

Good luck and bon apetite!

Greetings! You might just do a search for "cooking skills" or "cooking tutorials"- something like that. I have LOTS of website, but I think you may find a forum I belong to very helpful, also. It is called discusscooking.com! All of the members are soooo friendly and helpful, and they range from inexperienced beginners to world-renowned chefs! And no I don't get anything for referring you, but I can tell you, they are like my second family! Allrecipes.com is one of my favorite sites, too. Discuss cooking also has a LARGE database of cooking websites. Hope to see you there!
