I've owned two different Olympus cameras now and both times have had trouble with battery life. I'll put in a brand new pair of batteries and within an unreasonable amount of time the camera tells me the battery is dead and turns off. I've tried different brands of batteries and still no luck. What gives? Anyone else have this problem?

I'm on my second Olympus also, and there are several issues to content with any digital camera. If you mainly use the camera indoors, the constant firing of the flash will help to kill the batteries. Also remember that using the optical zoom function often, will do likewise. Lastly, leaving the LCD monitor on for long periods will shorten the fun. Answer -go to Target or Walmart and buy rechargeable AA's for $20. This has nothing to do with Olympus.

i'd not purchase one. There are better effective cameras which have better effective image high quality than Olympus. Many compact digital cameras conflict taking solid low-mild/evening images. All compact Olympus cameras in hardship-free words use xD image playing cards, that are often a dearer and slower than different playing cards (SD). regardless of the indisputable fact that, if you're slightly clumsy, then an Olympus Shockproof/water resistant digital camera can make a stunning good decision (in case you do not ideas generic image high quality).

I own two olympus digital cameras, and have no problems with battery life, using AA batteries will always have a short life span, it's best to get a camera with the li-ion rechargable batteries.

Digital cameras require battery power to operate...and using the flash, zoom and LCD uses a lot of power. Ordinary alkaline batteries are useless because they just don't have enough power in them to operate a camera for very long at all...that's why it's a waste of money to use them.

Instead, you should use rechargeable NiMH batteries (2500mAh or higher) plus a charger...or buy non rechargeable lithium batteries, such as Energizer e2 Lithium...which run for much longer that an ordinary battery.
