what sort of pen do they use to write the details of a wine on a bottle which is to be stored in a cellar for a long time & is thus prone to lose its label?

have just moved into house with cellar & want to lay some down for a few years, if temptation will let me. what would a cellarman use to write on the glass?

If the labels are securely on the bottle, you shouldn't have a problem with the labels peeling off. I've seen bottles of wine that are 50 to 60 years old that still have their labels intact. However, if you absolutely want to write on the bottle, a permanent marker will do the trick. Just make sure you choose a colour that doesn't match the colour of the glass. Also, just for your information, writing on the bottle could decrease the value of the bottle if you ever decide to put the bottle up for auction. I would check with a wine appraiser before you actually do this.

generally the labels don't fall off, but if you need to writre on them use a marker or writing instrument that is for writing on Glass, as somet thing s will not stay on glass permanently as glass is not porous
