Ok... if this is TMI, then don't answer, and I apologize ahead of time.
I seem to have on and off pains in my lower abdomen, cramp-like feelings, but all the time, not just my time of the month.
Also, I am not sure if this is related, but about 50-60% of the time I have a bowel movement, there is red blood and pain back there. I know that there is no clots, its just the same as when you cut yourself, and I was wondering if anyone could help me out.
I don't have health insurance at the moment, so would like to not have to go for as long as possible if there is something I can treat this with.
Thanks =]

I also have what i believe to be a skin tag right on the lining of the rectum (external) and wasn't sure if that was related or not as well

Okay, I had something like this some years ago - that is if your blood in the pot is bright red. It does sound like my problem though.

I had to stop drinking tea. Tea constipates me and straining to move your bowel creates hemorrhoids which will bleed and clot. The biggest villain was hot tea and as soon as I stopped drinking it, my bleeding stopped. But it wasn't until later that I realized I just could not drink tea at all - there's is nothing more pathetic than a southern woman who can't drink iced tea!

Don't take just my word for it, check your local County health agency, describe your problem to a nurse and ask if there is a free clinic that you can go to in your area. If this is your problem, you will have those souvenirs for the rest of your life - you just won't look like the guest of honor at a blood letting every time you have to poop.

Good luck honey.

As the blood is bright red it sounds like you have a rectal fissure, which bleeds when you have a bowel movement. I had one myself a while ago and that was the indicator, the blood being bright red. Best treatment is to eat lots of fruit or laxatives use so your bowel movements are soft and don't open it up allowing it to heal. If it doesn't heal, you may have to have surgery to fix it eventually.
Your cramps, I believe, are due to your period and pain killers is the only thing you can use. If you went to the doc, he/she would try you on a contraceptive pill as this often relieves these symptoms. Some people recommend natural herbs such as evening primrose oil for this problem.

Sweetie, if you are bleeding you need to get that checked out right away. You don't want to take any chances. There should be a clinic in your area that will lessen the medical fees based on your income, or even offer free services. Check your local yellow pages under clinics. Some will advertise their pro-rated services or if they offer free procedures. You may have to call a few. Some hospitals will even work with you financially but they will be more costly. You could also try a local college's health center to see if you can come there, or ask them if they could recommend a good facility for you.

Best wishes to you!

You could try taking a stool softener and see if that alleviates your symptoms. In addition, make sure you are drinking enough water. Eight glasses a day! That should help keep your bowel movements soft and less straining on your system. However, if your symptoms persist you should definitely go to the doctor. Here's a link for stool softeners:

I know not having insurance makes you reluctant to go to the doctor, but do it anyway. Go to the ER if you have to- they will have a look at you regardless of your ability to pay. Having bloody stools is never a good sign. It might be something as simple as a rectal fissure, but it could also be something serious like a tumor. If you do have something serious, putting off seeing a doctor might result in something that is much more costly to treat.

If you go to an emergency room they have to treat you, regardless of your ability to pay. Go there, say you have severe stomach pains and blood in your stool, and they will check you out. Pay 5 bucks a month back untill you're financially able to repay the debt. But get help.

Sounds like your bm's are very hard. Because they are so hard, they are causing the stomach pain. Also, because they are so hard they don't "mush" (for lack of a better word!) when you're defecating which is causing it to tear back there and bleed.
