The amount of people on here who say 'I dont necessarily agree with the war, but because America is at war now, I will support it 100%'

It really does my head in. You talk about fighting for freedom. Well FREEDOM means having the ability to question someones decision. To be able to speak up against it, even if its seen as unpatriotic to do so.

I will NEVER blindly follow the leader. George W Bush made a bad call to go to Iraq. That is just fact. The fact that we now have troops in there doesnt mean we should all just give up and go along with him despite the consequences.

One woman wrote in saying that if I dont support the war then essentially what Im saying is that her husband is fighting a war in vain.Well I know its hard to hear and not particular nice, but yes I do believe the war in Iraq is in vain. Me being quiet and just playing along while soldiers die every day doesnt suddenly make the war a worthy cause.

Bigsey - 9/11 happened, so we invaded Iraq. Can you please elaborate on this? In particular the relationship between the two events? Im guessing you cant. Please dont talk about 2 mutually exclusive events.

You don't have to support the war, that is a personal choice, but as far as supporting your government (like the president) in general you should. You have the chance to change your government through various state and federal elections. Just because the guy you wanted to win one of those doesn't, does not mean you should not (in general) support your country. Use your free speech, and vote to try and change things you don't like/agree with. By the way, you pay taxes, so you do support your government no matter who is in office, or what you believe

If you don't support the war, atleast support the troops. Troops dont fill in ballets and vote whether or not they wanna go to war. Its like supporting your favorite sports team, just because they are having a sucky season doesn't mean you should turn your backs on them and only like them when they are winners. Troops have fought and died since the founding of this country and thanks to them they have won the freedoms most americans take for granted.

We as Americans have a duty to support our nation in times of crisis, such as now. The crisis wasn't America's fault, it was the terrorists. 9/11 happened, and we needed to respond our we would have been bombed again. Think about it, if you punched somebody who you hated and they didn't punch back, what would you do?

Actually, by definition, to stand for a nation's principles is patriotic, to stand for a nation because of citizen duty is fascist.

...Just explaining the definitions...

Evidently, you do not know the TRUE meaning of PATRIOTIC, do you??? To stand for ones country is Patriotic... to stand for a belief is Submissive...
