Looks like our public awareness campaign to expose the religious right’s recently released video game, Left Behind: Eternal Forces, was a success.

You’ll remember that our efforts garnered a great deal of national media attention:

Front page article in the San Francisco Chronicle;
Stories on CNN’s American Morning, ABC World News, and Canadian TV;
A live debate with religious right leader Jay Sekulow on CNBC;
Articles written by the Associated Press, Reuters, Boston Globe, and UPI;
Just to name a few….

Now, not only do media reports coming out of Southern California reveal that the game has received mediocre sales, but a simple look at Left Behind Games Inc (LFBG) stock performance — in the words of DefCon advisory board member and Christian Alliance for Progress director Rev. Tim Simpson “you didn’t think this was a ministry, did you?” — reveals over an 80% drop in the stock’s price since the game was released in November.

I just received a Computer Games magazine that labeled this game the Worst Game of 2006. Just to warn anyone.

Not that I am a part of the "religious right", but I don't think you should generalize. It was not a game of "the religious right". It was just a game made to capitalize on a popular series of novels iwth a religious theme. Do you believe all books who have a religious or pseudoreligious them are "right wing"?
I have met many "Christian fundamentalists" who would as soon vote for a socialist party as for a conservative one. There may not be so many in the USA though.
In any case, I am glad the game has not remained popular. I don't at all like what I have heard about it.
The "Left Behind" series? I read a few of them. Amusing novels, but not very Biblical.
