Some friends and I were discussing reincarnation and the escape from Samsara. Is there any (karmic) benefit to not having children? It seems like it is easier to let go of the material plane if there is no progeny binding you here. Buddhists/Hindus, what is your take on this? Are there any texts that speak to this?

Serious answers only please.

If you don't have children you don't have children... a mind waiting to take rebirth, if it can take a human rebirth, will find a way. Karmic benefit arises from ANY activity you do that is altruistic and mind training.
