They sure are. Tattoo shops are not allowed to discriminate by religion as are any other establisment in the United States.
Christians get the same price and service as any other religion.

When Jesus came to earth, many of the Old Testament laws were changed, overturned, or simply exluded.
There are also verses which say you must not eat certain types of animals, and talk of the unclean animals which we must avoid (Leviticus 11), then in the new testament, God appears to Peter in a dream (Acts 10:9-15) and tells him not to call anything impure which God has made clean. They also were not (and still aren't) required to give a blood sacrifice after Jesus, who became our sacrifice. In the days of Old Testament law, no, you could not have a tattoo, or mark of any kind: it was an abomination. Jesus, however, laid down new laws. So I do not believe christians are forbidden from tattooes. But if all else fails for you, look into more scripture, pray, and see what you hear ^_^

Its LIVITICUS! The OLD Testiment. It just means Jews can't get tattoos. Well, it really means Jews "shouldn't" get tattoos. That stuff was written down back in the days when people who tried to tattoo themselves usually ended up dead from infection. Sort of why people were forbidden to eat pork. If you ate pork back then, unless it was burned to a crisp, you could get trichanosis and die. Same with the prohibition of eating crustacians. Crabs and shrimp and lobster have to be eaten FRESH. Can you imagine some guy selling lobsters off his donkey cart at the gates of Jerusalem, 2000 years ago, telling everyone they were caught just three days ago? MMMM, good! GOod an sick! Good and dead from botchulism poisoning! But back to your question, if you're a Christian, go ahead, knock yourself out. Get a tattoo or two or three or four or more. You'll always have those to remind you of your ignorant youth.

Members of some specific religions have rules that say that they 'can't' do a lot of things, from dancing to playing cards, to getting pierced, and even drinking ... and that may include 'getting a tattoo' ... but if you don't 'belong' to one of those specific religions, then you should remember that Leviticus is part of the OLD Testament, and 'all that is' is the 'history' and the 'rules' you need to think about are all written in the NEW Testament ... and you still don't have to 'follow it exactly' as long as you 'confess your sins' to God and ask for his forgiveness. That is what Christ died 'for' ...

Born again Christians usually take literal meanings from the Bible. The rest of the normal people in the World use this book as a guide to Life not an Instruction manual.
Enough said....

I have been a christain all my life and have never seen it in the bible that it says not to get tattoos. The verse that you have quoted is refering to making marks on our skin in order to respect the dead, so as long as you are not doing this then I'd say you were pretty safe to get a tattoo.

I haven't Studied Levit.19:28 as to why they were getting something printed on their body's.

Jesus has Lord of Lords, and King of Kings written on HIS Thigh---it is in the Book of the Revelation.

Christians must live as uncomfortably as humanly possible as penance for the death and suffering of Jesus. If you have a tattoo or do something because you'd like to and it'd make you happy, it's out of the question. Don't do anything for fun, even making love to your partner. You can have sex with children if you represent the church and keep it quiet, though. Or as someone else answered earlier, do what you like but say sorry after.

What a silly question! If you don't have any common sense, no religion or anyone else can help you.

B well.

Strictly speaking, Christians shouldn't wear makeup or jewellery either as that's frowned on in the Bible. Also, there's a verse saying that you shouldn't cut the hair in front of your ears which is why Hassidic jews have those cute little ringlets. However, who can keep every one of these recommendations. I may not have any tattoos, piercings, jewellery or makeup but I have cut my hair in a nonBiblical fashion.

No.. just don't get them to rebel or anything.. There is also a verse in the Bible, it escapes me now, but it talks about how we are written in the palm of God's hand, so if you get a tattoo to be more like God, then all the power to you. Do you watch Miami Ink? Cleetus Adrian was on it, he is the founder of a Youth Church in Texas and he is full of tatoos, look him up
