im turning 16 in 3 months. I might g et braces soon. Is 16 too late?And when will i get them out?

I got braces when i was 16 I had them for around 18months, but 10 years later its definitely worth it having a nice smile and straight teeth....I didn't think so at the time I thought they would look ugly but somethings are worth it. You will never have to worry about your smile and bent teeth ever again......just keeping them clean.
I don't think 16 is too late but while you have them you need to have regular visits with the dentist to change the elastics and you have to keep your teeth clean and floss regularly. This is a hassle but it pays off.

Your at the perfect age, old enough to want your teeth straightened and capable of taking care of them by good brushing and flossing techniques. I had mine when I was 16 also and I'm very thankful and glad that I did. It's actually what made me decide to go into dentistry. Most patients wear them for a period of 18 - 24 months, depending on the severity of the malalignment and how well the patient responds to treatment and takes care of them. Fewer broken wires and loose brackets with older patients that's for sure! Good luck and congrats on getting them, you'll love your smile when it's all over and be thankful that you have them!

Awww, now you guys are making me feel old! LOL! I am 26, and I just got braces 2 days ago. I got the clear ceramic braces, which are only on my top teeth. I believe I will have them for a year and a half. So don't feel too old, 'cause you just made me look old! ;)

no it is never too late to get braces! my aunt got them and she was like in her forties. she looked cute too she always got different color bands. now she has a beautiful smile just like you will when you get them off. on average most people have them on for about 2 years so about 18 years old for you.

no it's not too late. adults get braces too. I had mine in when I was 14 and had to have them for 5 years! Ick! But not to worry. you're at a good age to get them.

um. i turn 16 on valentines day and i just got them last tuesday. so no. and u get them off when ur ortho says. no one on here can tell u.
