Why not send him one of each?

Get both and put on the card if he wants to go out with you to give the red one back if he doesn't and only wants to be friends then give the white one back to you. When he gives you the carnation back - you can give it back to him and say it's for you with a smile, or you can keep it and it will remind you of him. Make plans on where your going to go out to. I'm sure he's going to want to go out with you.

well if you want to be friends then send white, but if you want romance then send red, make your feelings known. don't say wanna be friends if you want something more.

I think it is a great idea!!!
Good Luck
