I live in Texas. When you move from out of state to Texas, they won't give you a ticket. They understand that plates can expire at an inconvenient time.

You can't get a Texas plate in California, so just get your new plates after your car arrives.

By the way, here in Texas, two plates are required. One for the front of your car and one for the back.

When I moved here from Oklahoma, I had expired Oklahoma plates and not once did anyone pull me over.

Seriously. I wouldn't worry about it.

Welcome to Texas! You'll love it here.

You can't drive a vehicle with expired plates. But you can't put Texas plates on until you are a resident of Texas with a permanent address there. You will have to register in CA when they come due, and switch to TX when you move and become a resident.

In Ontario, if you change your license plates before they're due for renewal you can send them back to the DMV and get a refund. Look into it!

i would wait till time to renew the car and renew it in TX with new TX tags, because you will be out twice the renewal fee.

we have two tags here and we have a regeration sticker on the front windshield
