If its perscribed yes if not no or you will kill the dog and just be thankful that your dog did not die or have to be put down due to little it will do. watch emergancy vets on animal planet at 11 and 11.5(am) and there all reruns so it may show the dog the was hit by a car(or it could be a cat) and they had to put it down *crys* The thing that will heal your dog best is love. If you stay home enough laydown and talk to your dog. Your dog knows how you feel which is keeping it from healing so try not to worry and spend some time

No, nor is acetaminophen, both have great health risks, like death. The only thing you can give is aspirin. You need to consult with your vet for proper dosage. The weight of your dog will determine how much you give. Aspirin can still be harsh on a dogs stomach and cause problems, which is why the lowest amount needs to be recommended by your vet. Aspirin can also be used to control pain from arthritis that may be caused from having the broken bones in the future. Hope your dog feels and gets better soon.

No, ibuprofen and tylenol are toxic to dogs livers and should definitely not be given to a dog that has been hit by a car. Nearly all dogs who have been hit already have high liver values due to the trauma to the liver itself and the reactions that occur when trauma occurs, giving something that is hard on the liver can easily push him into liver failure. You also should not give asprin because it is a blood thinner and does not promote healing, if there are any internal injuries, asprin could make it much worse. Your vet can prescribe something much more suitable.

It really surprises me, that your vet did not prescribe pain medication, for something as painful as, many broken bones. One is more than painful enough. I'm so sorry, your dog was hit, poor baby. He must be in so much pain. My suggestion is, to just call the vet that treated your dog, and tell him, he really needs something for pain. He will be able to give you the right and most effective medication and dosage, to lessen the pain. I hope he's much better soon! Good Luck!

NO! It may not kill him but it will do internal damage. My sisters pit bull got ahold of a bottle of Advil (which contains ibuprofen) and ate a few of them. She now irreversible liver damage. She survived but at what cost? Her life will likely end short of what it could have been because of this liver damage. Ask your vet for pain meds, I can't believe they didn't prescribe any or even keep the dog especially with multiple fractures and having been hit by a car!!!!! I'd seek a second opnion!

NO. Ibuprofen or Tylenol is highly toxic to dogs. Give your dog regular asprin. 1 adult tablet for every 50 lbs of dog every 4 -6 hours.

WHY DIDN"T YOU ASK YOUR VET FOR PAIN MEDS??????
The answer is a big "NO". Ibuprofen can kill your dog by shutting down it's kidneys. It can not be broken down by your dogs system. Asprin can be given to dogs but only after the dog is weighted and the proper dose is determined by your vet.
Please CALL YOUR VET!!!!!

I wouldnt. i did give some to my dobe once when he was bit it didnt really help. As pain killers works on spefic neurones it might be different in dogs. Go back to ure vet, he should be able to give painkillers for your dog. Or you can even get patches that work for longer! If no vets are open ring a 24hr
heres a website explaining why not to give it!
Hope this helps
