This is why you gotta wait till your 18 to get inked.

and "puma4sale" is an idiot, that would be like saying painting is just a passing fad. Tattooing has been around for hundreds of years, and theres no reason people will stop wanting to express themselves in that art form.

I agree with folks who say pick your own thing, really. I've only just started getting inked, and, um... let just say I remember 300 baud modems clearly. :) I've been thinking about it for a *long* while, just couldn't decide on what to get. That's something that's taken a decade or two to work out.

With respect to tatttooing being a fad thing... sure, don't do it just cuz everyone else is, but also don't *not* do it because everyone else is. It's easy to not think enough about this, and even easier to think *too* much about it. I would think about it for at least a few months if not a year, googling various ideas, chatting with artists about thoughts, maybe getting a temp tattoo to see how it feels. Good artists will be able to steer you away from art that won't work (color, layout, location, ideas) and to something with real artistic merit. Just don't skimp! It'd be like asking your 11 year old brother to take pictures at your wedding rather than a professional photographer.

If you're worried, though, about what you'll look like in 50 years: if that's what's on my mind at that age either I'm exceptionally lucky, or frankly, my head will be in the wrong place. Some areas may not age as well as others, but the basic activity imho is timeless.

There is no best place for a girl only a best place for YOU. At the end of the day its you thats going to be living with the tattoo not everyone else.
I agree the wrist is a cool place to get one done, thats where I'm thinking of having my next one.
Just pick a place and design that you really like not anyone else coz its you thats gotta live with it.
Also remember that when you go for jobs etc not all employers like tattoos on show so get one that you can cover up when at work.

Only get a tat if you really, REALLY want one - not just because your friends are having them done.

Only get it when you know yourself. I was 23 before I got my first one, and wished I'd waited a bit longer.

Only get it done at a reputable place - ask for pictures, or better, recommendations.

Only get it done when you know EXACTLY what you want - it's going to be there for life. You need to have something that means something to you, and will mean something to you in 50, 60 or 70 years.

Only get it done where you can cover it up - much as I love all my tattoos (I've got six) they're all in places where you don't see them unless I show you them. It doesn't look good to go for job interviews etc with your tats hanging out, no matter how feminine or small they are - believe me, I know.

Here are my rules on getting a tattoo.
#1 decide on what you want & where & then wait at least 1 year before getting it. If you change your mind, then at least you didn't make it permanent.
#2 Don't put it anywhere that can not be covered up. You will probably out grow the tattoo & then you are stuck w/ it. Think of your wedding day...do you really want a tattoo to show. When your in a professional meeting, or you want to look elegant, a tattoo will look tacky.

All good choices. I have 3 tats, An Eeyore on my right bicep, an O negative (for the goth band type o negative) on my left bicep and a scorpion on my right forearm. I think a girls shoulder is the sexiest place and any of the tats you like would be cool. Peace.

Surely it's an individual thing? If you like something, get it - there's no right or wrong. Though, I would think that by just asking that question, you're not ready to get a tattoo

i have been reading all these negative remarks about tatting ur body and i don't get.... it isn't ur body to judge.. why r u criticizing people when all they r asking for is ur opinion... if u don't like the ideas of tats then stay off of the questions regarding them.... i have 5 tats on my body.
an ankle bracelet that wraps around and then goes on the top of my foot into a toe ring.
a picture on my ankle
a Chinese symbol on my spine (lower part)
a 4 leaf clover on my right hip
a bracelet of baby foot prints and hand prints with my sons name initials and his birth date.

u need to get ur tat anywhere that u feel comfortable seeing it everyday
good luck
