Tht USA killed over 80 thousand CIVILIANS in one night of incendeary bombing of Tokyo. This was NOT a military target it was a city like NEW YORK. This is a small example of the "good guy" USA and it's strategic bombing.

Our killer military...is estimated to have killed well over a million civilians in the Vietnam War.

The sad event of 9/11/01.....was NOTHING compared to the bombing and killing the USA is responsible for.

The USA is the ultimate terrorist nation......why do you think we have Stealth Bombers...because we are...nice.

Our nation has this illusion it is fighting evil...maybe so...but we are just as evil as any nation. Just count our WARS. count our professional bombers, as we call their amatuer bombers evil.

We will lose in IRAQ...but the americans that started this war will walk away....blaming evryone else. God does NOT bless america, never did

Your arguement is bit like saying Ted Bundy should have apologized as he killed more people that Charles Manson.

The problem is, what is an enemy combatant? When a country is engaged in all-out war, where do the targets end?

In the middle ages, the armies wandered over the landscape, and the local peasants would not even know a war was on unless the battle happened on their land. With industrialization and mechanization, the scope of war widened.

The war involved not only the soldiers - it included the airfields and the ammunition factories, the trains that took supplies to the front, the factories that made ball bearings or repaired trucks; the facilities than produced food for the soldiers and factory workers, and the roads that supplied those workers, and the workers themselves, the bureaucrats that organized the supply trains.

This is what brought the USA into WWI (not WWII). The Germans believed that shipping supplies to their enemy England meant the ships were fair game, and they started sinking shipping bound for Britain. There's some suggestion that Churchill, as Navy Minister, had included war supplies on the Lusitania passenger ship, which the Germans sunk.

Essentially everyone is a target. What about children? Old people? Well, when the whole industrial complex is a target, should you spare it because a child might get hurt? What about, for example, Hezbollah in Lebanon last year? They would deliberately fire rockets from the centre of towns, hoping Israeli retaliation would create photo-ops of "israeli brutality". The Iraqi insurgents are playing the same game.

Should a government's supply lines or armies be left alone because one child might get hurt? Should we encourage human shields, or make it clear they will not work? That's probably safer for civilians in the long run.

Watch the movie "Letters From Iwo Jima". It took such a huge task force to take one tiny island. Japanese soldiers fought to the death rather than surrender. The top brass said "Holy ****! What's it going to cost to take the Japanese mainland???" No wonder they were inclined to use the atomic bomb, which cost no American lives. Incidentally, even after 2 Japanese cities were wiped off the map (and most of the rest were firebombed to ashes) a group of army brass tried to stage a coup and prevent the emperor from surrendering. That's what the Americans were up against.

I don't think it's a matter of apologizing; at most, anyone involved in a war should say "we are all truly sorry that it had to come to this." But once it's war, it's whatever it takes to win without losing your soul.

After all, any side that truly cared could simply surrender if they were that worried about loss of life.

Iraq was a mistake, Vietnam was a mistake. Japan was not, they killed many millions of Chinese and Koreans and did horrible experiments on those people, they needed to be defeated morally and militarily. I needn't mention what Germany did in WWII. And yes Al Qaida, Hezbollah, the Taliban and other militant Islamists do qualify as evil, they want to convert the world to Islam and if that means nuking New York city then they will do that, they have no regard for life at all nor people's freedoms. And yes, Bush is an idiot, Christian values idealist with a very poor knowledge of history, otherwise he never would have invaded Iraq.

But at the same time, Muslims fighting Americans in that country are fools. Look at who the top richest countries are in the world after the US. It's Japan and Germany. Iraq could have been prosperous too after we rebuilt that country like we did in Germany and Japan.

God does not bless any country, man makes his own choices...not sure when the world will realize this but whatever...

Japan Attacked the US First... hoping we wouldn't have the nerve to fight. And continued to fight way past the point the war was a lost cause.

Between November 1944 and April 1945, Japan launched over 9,000 fire balloons toward the American mainland. Carried by the recently-discovered Pacific jet stream, they were to sail over the Pacific Ocean and land in North America, where the Japanese hoped they would start forest fires and wreak devastation.

This occured a YEAR prior to the US bombing the Japanese Home Islands...

About three hundred of those INCENDIARY bombs were reported as reaching North America, but little damage and only 6 deaths were caused.

Why should we apologize as a NATION for actions to defeat an enemy that started that war.

I'd love to see a reference to this "million civilian deaths" caused by the USA in Vietnam...(The references at THIS link put TOTAL North/South Civilians deaths at about HALF a million)...

~2,000,000 to 4,000,000 Killed (The Vietnam's Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs released figures on April 3, 1995 claimed that nearly 2 million civilians in the north and 2 million in the south were killed between 1954 and 1975.

Note that that figure above reflects the Viet casualties during the French period also... and it is generated BY the communist Vietnam government... who considered the Viet Cong to be civilians... and doesn't.

God Did bless America... until you liberal-leftists declared God to be dead in our nation.

To answer the first question, I guess I wouldn't be really surprised or anything; I figure it's been done already. After hangin' with nutjob KKK-man David Duke and all that talk about erasing countries like Israel from the map I just figure Iran's leader's a wild card, he'll say or do anything, whatever---why wait to hear it? It must be hard for the people who live in Iran who wish they didn't have to have such a leader represent them, also for the minorities (Zoroastrians, Jews, etc.), who get treated even worse than everyone else. Must be tough. Yeah, I dunno, maybe McCain should lay off the jokes---the people of Iran may not understand that McCain is just letting off frustration at their leader, and they certainly don't need any *more* stress in their lives.

your elevator dont reach the top floor, buddy... to soar with eagles, ya gotta get your head outta the sand. What ever rat-hole your view is from needs a wider opening.. in order to be THAT bigoted, you have to have denied a monstrous load of reality. I take it there are no American veterans in your family...and that YOU ARE leagued to some [other] foreign country--but live in america..?...am i close?
Any war...all war...every war is debatable, ..and well they should be. The reason being, ...to inform humanity of it's utter inhumanity...that dosent excuse the horror, it just makes it possible for us to forgive ourselves for the destruction. If you so judge the outcomes, and the processes of wars, yet refuse to consider the consequences of humanity's apathy, read Shindlers List, or any number of other fine documentaries of what wars are fought over. In the interum, mind your critisums, it hilights your ignorance.

Get your information Correct. Where is Tokyo? In Japan. And who were we fighting during 1941 - 1945????? Japan. Oh my gosh what a coincidence. Its called casualties of war. You don't think thousands of Americans die each year because of that ****? If its not bombings from other countries, but we have it on our own land to brought on by other countries. 9/11 is only one of them. What about the embassy bombings in 1998 in Lebonon? In 1995 and in 1982? What about those people?

Get your facts straight. And by the way, if you're an american saying that you should be ashamed of yourself. Because thousands of soldiers have died fighting for freedoms that you live with everyday.

How about all the thousands, millions of people other countries have killed? How about countries that actually go about torturing their citizens, and those of other nations. America gives a ****load of aid to countries around the world. War is a part of human nature. We don't attack other countries without reason and we don't make it a point to go after civilians. Most of our targets are military. If you hate America so much, and it sounds like you live here, GET THE F**** OUT!

Go live in some crappy country elsewhere and find out how much you miss America then. I'm so sick of you damn hippie, liberal Bas***** who take advantage of every opportunity this country offers, all the while mouthing off about how horrible our country is. You contribute nothing to the general welfare of society. All you do is take take take.

Those American soldiers are the reason that you have the right to spew this crap. You should get on your knees and say THANK YOU to every single one, for protecting YOUR FREEDOMS.

Maybe you should see what the Japanese were doing during WWII, not exactly civilized. You should enjoy the part about Japanese soldiers eating allied POW's...... And Tokyo was the capital of Japan, it was a target just like Berlin, London, Paris or Washington.

Hey Bubba. They started the dam war. Remember Pearl Harbor. By the way you won't find anything about the war in a school book in Japan.
