Some 19 year olds are NOT ready. Some 16 year olds... maybe might be ready, but that's all sketchy. There are always mistakes people make when they are young, it's a fact of life. Perhaps what's important FIRST is knowing what regrets you can or CAN'T live with. Examples: what if you got an STD that has no vaccine? (Herpes or HPV really mess up your life, too. Accidentally spreading it is also horrible, but is completely common.) Then there's pregnancy, since any birth-control can fail. Then there is the heartbreak a person of any age has when a relationship ends badly. Men (of any age) are less reliable in commitment than women, generally. Especially with the chaos during the younger years, etc.
I don't mean these as reasons to never have sex. But the only way you are ready is if you know how to use contraception, and know the facts (not just stuff a guy or friends tells you.) Luckily, condoms are the most complete protection, and are easy enough with little practice (also can be fun.) And you can add other birth control to using condoms. There are a million reasons to use condoms, and zero reasons not to.
And be sure with yourself what you want with your partner, and hoping for it is not enough. This person should be willing and happy to TALK to you about all this stuff. If he's just impatient, etc, he's a waste.
You should both be patient about it. Each of you should feel ready. Mistakes will be made. But if you really feel ready, and feel safe, and always have condoms, that's a great start.
One important other bit of advice: if he can't make you feel good without intercourse, then he can't do it with intercourse. Your partner needs to be interested in how your body works and how you feel. If he's more interested in his own unit, then guess what? *He's* not heady...
And, if you have anyone older than you, who you can talk to safely about sex and everything, that's 1000% better.

The right time will be when you think it is. You'll figure it out. I say, as long as you are old enough to deal with the consequences, you are old enough to have sex. You can get pregnant from any one of your sexual encounters. So, are you ready to have a baby? I'm not trying to be harsh, but it's the truth.

the right time to have sex is somethin u must decide..just make sure that u are doing it because you are sure you want to have this sort of action between u and this person(this person must be someone u care about..dont just have sex because of curiosity.there is no age to have sex.however, it must be when u are old enought to understand that its not a game but rather a responsibility and that it can have deep consequences.

the real correct answer is only in marriage. the fact is aids and all std's would be unheard of if we all just had sex with our spouses.
however if your not willing to wait then the right time to have sex is not until you are willing to fully accept that no matter how many condoms and how many pills you take sex may result in the woman becoming pregnant and that is a human life you are responsible for . once you are ready to accept that i mean really ready to say yes i can support a child if i had to then it might be time to consider sex.
just make sure both you and your partner are on the same page in regard to who is in charge of the birth control .

Um, well the right time is when you and your partner are both ready. You must respect eachother's values and boundraies though. Age doesn't really matter, as long as you are ready. I mean i'm a Christian, but i still believe that as long as you think it's time, then it's okay. Just becareful not to get hurt.

the right time to have sex is when you and your partner are ready and both agree on it, you shouldn't rush into it. Age dosen't really matter as long as you are both commited to each other and no about contraception.
