Why is it when your in a relationship you want to be single and visa versa?

I have been in a relationship with a sometimes great man for 13 years. We have lived together for 8 of those 13 years. I love him with all that I am but sometimes find myself wishing I was single just so I would not have to compromise all the time. I know and understand that being in any relationship is work but should it not get easier as time goes on. After 13 years I thought it would be so easy but it seems that the longer we stay together the harder it gets and the more compromising I feel I am doing? Am I looking for a fairy tale thinking things are always supposed to be rosey and nice? Help me make since out of life and love.

A relationship always takes work, even if it's just little things. The feeling I think you're getting is kind of like the old addage....the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence....kinda thing. Everyone gets them at some point in time, I think it's just human nature, you always want what you don't have but when you do have it it doesn't mean quite the same as what you thought it would. Hang in there, this speed bump in your relationship should pass.

Don't get caught up in the grass is always greener scenario. If you break up and date it will end up being the same after awhile. If you have a good man that you love dont ruin it. I think sometimes we crave that new in love feeling that you get with someone when you first start dating, but that is short lived. Life isn't a fairy tale that is fiction.

Becuase you always want what you can't have. It's human nature. It won't get easier. Making a relationship work IS hard work. You need to keep compromising and have fun with it! LOVE = LIFE ♥♥♥♥
