there is this french word that my french teacher used to say ALL the time, but for the life of me, i can't remember what it means!

it is pronounced petetre - but i know that's not how it's spelled.

can anyone help me!?!?!?

Peut-être. It means "perhaps", "maybe".

Was the teacher one of those indecisive types?

Peut etre is PERHAPS. All the time is something like tout le temps, I'm not sure. Toujour is another possibility...
