I know that there ARE alternative lifestyles : gays and lesbians who are committed to a life-long partnership.

To teach that as NORMAL is not within the parameters of my belief system, therefore I would loudly complain if the course were taught (teaching that the lifestyle is appropriate and worthy) at my kids' schools.

It depends on what you mean by "being taught".

Does it mean that kids are told that there are some families headed by a single parent, or two gay parents? That's fine. Kids today are pretty savvy. They'll understand that without much trouble.

Are they being taught that this is OK? Well, I don't have a problem with that, either. I know of a household in my neighborhood made up of 2 gay men and 2 kids. They get along as well or better than most of the families on the street, and they're good neighbors.

Are the schools demeaning or putting the alternate lifestyles down? That I'd have a problem with...

totally agree...the world is a different place these days and our children need to be made aware of it.
