Yes. And the sound it would make would be the sound of one hand clapping.

Why would it need to make a sound? There is no possible way to tell, because in order to find out you have to see the tree fall, and therefore you would hear a noise. The world may never know....
and to the guy that said the animals ran because they heard it, well that is someone around to hear the noise. So that doesn't answer the question.

I guess so. I know it must freak the heck out of the birds and little forest creatures. That's why we see them scurrying away and stuff in such a panic - cause a tree fell!!!!

yeah, a large tree in forest weighs how much? and also with the distance from the ground it'd def-def-definently make a sound

I would say no. When the tree falls, it produces sound waves. The actual sound occurs when the sound waves hit someone's ears. If there are no ears to receive the sound, the waves would just dissipate.

Yes, and then it'd start complaining until somebody heard it (like in Family Guy where Peter meets his Spirit Guide (the Fonz).

Of course. Just because you're not there to hear it doesn't mean it didn't make a sound, silly.

Yes, you don't have to tell the birds, bees, rodents and critters that the sky was falling around them.
