I did alot of dancing and have never ever gotten charlie horses. I danced alot lately just for fun. I woke up yesterday and got my first charlie horse ever. It hurts so bad. It didnt hurt yesterday but today I can't walk properly, dance, or put much weight on my leg. Is there any way to relieve the pain.

Funny that you should put it that way. I have had 5 babies all "naturally" with no pain relief. The EXACT way that I describe it to men friends of mine is that it is like a charlie horse from just below your breasts to your pubic bone. It contracts for 30 to 90 seconds just like a charlie horse, then subsides, then comes again...until it's over.. It is truly hell... but apparently if it was THAT bad I would have gotten drugs or never had more than one baby. It doens't hurt WORSE than a charlie horse though.

You need to drink more pure bottled water. And even more when you are doing something strenuous like dancing all night. In the meantime take a couple of tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and mix in a couple of tablespoons of the hottest powdered cayenne(chili) powder you can find. After it is well mixed rub it gently over the afflicted areas and let it set for a couple of hours. Should alleviate any pains. The cayenne brings the blood to the surface of your skin and breaks up any blockages that occur from charlie horses or other ailments.

Drink some orange juice or eat a banana. Charlie horses are caused by too low potassium level.

Try Tiger balm.
Also, you might want to up your calcium intake to prevent future charlie horses. A good supplement, if you go that route, will have both calcium and magnesium.
My wife used to get them all the time from yoga and that was the only thing that helped her.

Stretch out the muscle and put pressure on in. If it is in your foot, step on it gently but firmly to put the muscle back in place.
