Well, dear lady, there's not much that might get YOUR sharp mind excited but I always thought the explanations the Buddha gave, of how the solar system works, how the sun is going to go and exactly how it will destroy the planets in it's way, life on other planets in this universe and such... waaaay back in BCE is VERY cool. Just my opinion though.

About a year into my study of the course in miracles I was at the state fair.

There were about 40,000 people there that day. In the middle of the afternoon, right in the middle of the midway with thousands of people all around me I suddenly realized that every one of them seemed strangely familiar. Even more oddly I felt very connected to each one of them. The feeling that I had was a lot like the love that I feel for my own children.

This was very unlike me because I have always been a bit afraid of people in general and not very trusting.

The more I looked around the stranger the situation became. Every face looked familiar, like an old school friend that you have not seen for a while. Problem is I had never seen any of these people before. I soon realized that when I saw someone from an angle where I could not clearly see their face I knew what they looked like even before I got a clear look at them.

I realized that the connection I was feeling was not just with the people. It was with the sky the trees and everything that I could see. I did not fell separate from anything.

Everyone and everything was absolute beautiful. A person went past me in a wheelchair that had severe birth defects that had left them quite deformed in the conventional sense. As she passed and she looked into my eyes I saw only a beautiful and precious part of my self passing by.

Then as quickly as it had come it was gone. Everything was back the same as it had always been. I tried my best to hold on to it because I realized that what I had been experiencing was the truth. I did not want to return to the sham existence that I had seemingly been sentenced to my whole life.

Lucky for me this was not the last time that this happened. I still can't make it happen at will but it does happen often enough that I know now what the truth of us looks and feels like.

The truth is just what Jesus told us it was. We are all part of the same loving source, and we need to start treating everyone and everything like the precious part of ourselves that they are.

This is the part that I'm not very good at, but I'm working on it.

Love and blessings Don

The 'wow' for me is just how long it took me to realise that there's nothing special we need to be happy! That we have everything we need here and now. That it's just a state of mind and that you don't even need belief to discover this, just some simple techniques that anyone can practice.

But I guess that's true of everything in life, isn't it? If you don't earn something you appreciate it less. If you don't 'discover' it for yourself and rely on someone else telling you, you'll never feel the same way as you do about something you figure out personally.

Oh, and the interconnectedness of everything. That's pretty mind blowing too!

First example to spring to mind was from a long time ago - I read A Brief History of Time and although I understood some of it, what it really made me see was just how smart Stephen Hawking really is. His vision is truly amazing.

I have been reminded of that book a lot recently. It's good to read something that doesn't over-simplify the universe while presenting the big theories. Makes you realise just what a beautiful place the universe really is.

Hmm...interesting one. I wrote a 360 entry last week on something like this. The more I learn about this world, the more I have to root myself in atheism, because it's soooo full of wow factor. Somehow, the fact (as I see it) that it wasn't all created to plan shoots the wow factor through the roof - so it's my atheism that makes the world seem uber-amazing to me.

lol I expressed it better in the blog:

Since it's 20 hours since you posted your question, perhaps you can use this answer to get you started this night.

I go "Wow!" every time I look up into the night sky, at the stars and moon, and know that it absolutely, categorically, emphatically did NOT GET THERE BY ACCIDENT! If it's a clear, starry night tonight, stand outside and look up into the heavens. You will go "Wow!" too.

Hey Pangel!

i don't know if you heard but i have left atheism, and I'm back in the wiccan way of life :o)

the thing that really got me to say Wow would have to be that when i perform a ritual (such as my self-dedication) i could actually feel the God and Goddess, this was something that i never got in any other religion that i have tried (and trust me i have tried them all)

and i seriously hope that i never leave this one, i have dedicated myself to the goddess and god i really don't see how i can leave now anyway :o)

I have been studying up on the Ancient Astronauts theory and I think its simply fascinating that there is evidence that suggests the ancient Egyptians drew their heiroglyphics inside the pyramids using light bulbs for light, instead of lanterns or torches!
