Article shows 1918 issue still used. Converted to FA 300 or 600rpm. What is the high velocity, long rifle at squad level that tears down buildings? Is it MG for whole squad? Don't answer, of course of injurous to troops. US military is fantastic. Troops are the best. Thank you for what you do every day. From some dumb liberal.

Browning Automatic Rifle was replaced by the M60----there are still M60's in use today---most have been phased out by the M249 squad automatic weapon, which is now being replaced with the 240B
the 249 was lighter than the 60 but fired a smaller round-5.56
240B fires same round as the 60

For two reasons. First, the procedure used by our enemies consisted of filling a person's stomach with water until it burst - a practice much different from waterboarding, although it is sometimes misidentified as such. Second, these methods were employed against uniformed US POWs, not enemy combatants. If the rules were the same for both, then any interrogation, and any trial (such as the trial by the Obama administration against the Somali pirate in NY) would be war crimes. Good question! It allows for clearing up misconceptions, which some have used to slander my country.

No, the Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) was phased out of service in the U.S. Army in the 1960s. The M60 machine gun was a partial replacement for the BAR, but even M60 has been replaced (mostly) at the squad level by the M249.

I'm not sure what you are really asking. If you are asking if the Browning Automatic Weapon is still used by the US forces the answer is no. It has been replaced several times over since it was used back in WWII. The oldest weapon still used in combat by US troops today is the M2 .50 cal machine gun.

No. Now they use the M240 and the M-60. The BAR last saw use in the early years of the Vietnam war.

The BAR hasn't been used by U.S. troops in half a century. It was a cumbersome weapon, but it could be carried by one soldier, so long as there was another soldier to carry most of the ammo. The belt-fed Browning machine gun of the same era had to be carried by a pack mule, on later on a jeep. It was easier to get soldiers than pack mules.
