Comming to conclusions based on the statistics especially where documentations is poor and social stigma high, may not be the right conclusion. As far as i know based on my work experience in different countries, i am aware of the fact that when there is a suicide in a muslim family it is never talked about outside, in countries like india there are so many women dying because of domestic violence, i have known situations where truths are not brought out, because husbands and inlaws are in trouble with the law. It is hushed up and a false death certificate is produced, the system does not work in contries like India. Hence it is surely not the right figures, here social stigma is very high.

Well comming to muslim countries, who said there is no suicide? Do you read the news or see the TV do you have an idea how many suicide bombers die in a day??? Who documents suicides in an Islamic countries, do yu have an idea what a social stigma it is??? These are countries where women are not allowed to talk, do you have an idea how much sexual abuse is there? Do you have an idea how women suffer because of multiple wives a man can have, they are the most insecure women because anytime they are out.
Comming to Atheist Countries, they are open to their problem and seek help, it is good to acknowledge that there is a problem because a will to solve is born. If Atheist countries have suicides perhaps they know to be honest, not like the other once, now you will agree that honesty is the best policy! perhaps Athiest are honest people. Just because some thing is not documented it does not mean suicide is not happening . It is happening believe me! Mental health is a big issue in countries where religions control. People are slaves in these countries because there is no freedom of expression.

"A comparison of suicide rates according to the prevalent religious denomination in countries brings to light a most remarkable difference between countries of Islam and countries of any other prevailing religion (Figure 4). In Muslim countries (e.g. Kuwait), where committing suicide is most strictly forbidden, the total suicide rate is close to zero (0.1 per 100,000 population"

You really trust Saudi Arabia and Iran to accurately report anything?

You will note that the "atheist" country they got the statistics from was China - the country with the worst human rights violations in the world, a huge population with little jobs, and a Communistic govt. (Communism is NOT Atheism. It simply states that you will put the State before anything, including the Gods you choose to worship...)

If you paid attention, you'd also note that Muslims have an even lower rate of suicide than Christians - so I guess they are even better than you Christians, huh?

Skewed statistics, buddy. The "atheists" mentioned are not true logical thinkers but people in China, who are forced to be atheists and who live in abject poverty. In western civilization the Atheists choose this because of their own moral compass and education. The highest suicide rates are among those who are suffering in ignorance and poverty, like in China, what the dictator of that country says the religion is and what the religion of the people is are completely different.

Actually it's statistics about suicide rates in different countries. Attempting to imply that the prevalent religion is a cause is absurd.

False study, erroneous assumptions.

You'll notice that they classified COUNTRIES as atheist or of a various religion, not individuals.

You can draw no valid individual meaning from this study.

They have totally ignored numerous confounding factors. China, for example, is reported as an atheistic country -- but it is entirely unreasonable to compare China and the USA. The fundamental psychology of the populus is different. Most Chinese people live in relatively meager situations, most Americans live in somewhat modest but comfortable situations. There is no effort to isolate this confound, so the entire study is invalid.

Correlation does not mean causation. In other words, just because a certain country , like China, has a high rate of suicide. It doesn't mean that the reason why these people kill themselves or attempt to do so is that they are atheists. If you do not take into account economic pressures, or other factors, then your analysis is very suspect.

First of all, you can't prove this article to be legitimate. Secondly, 99% of all statistics are made up. Thirdly, your article also states that the highest suicide rates for both men and women are found in Europe. Europe is a Catholic/Christian dominate continent.

What's your point?
