It just means that he loves you! He is trying to get your attention. Try getting him some toys that he can play with by himself. We like the hard bones that are sold in the stores that won't shatter in the mouth. In addition, make sure when he cries, don't pay attention. He may claw at your legs for more attention while barking and etc however you never say anything - don't even look at him. He has learned (since they are very smart little things) that if he cries, you pay attention to him. It is like a child, they know how to get what they want. Just ignore him when he crying to get attention and he will learn that he has to wait to get attention from you. Good Luck, enjoy the puppy!

Dogs have limited ways to communicate with us when they are hurt, sick, or anxious. If your dog is crying seemingly for no reason or being particularly needy of your attention (wanting to sit in your lap all day, for example), it might be a good idea to have her checked by a vet to make sure she's in good health. Keep a keen eye on her and watch for signs that she's not eating or drinking well or that she has an injury (limping, holding her leg funny, etc.). Sometimes dogs just want a little extra attention, too, so I'm hoping this is the case with your pooch. Good luck!

Try crate training the dog. It will give him a nce little place to go if he needs some quiet time. It sounds like he has anxiety problems... I have a Vislia/Ridgeback mix and he always will whine and cry when ppl come over or even when we are just kicking back. He starts to shake sometimes too. The vet said that crate training him will give him a private place to go to when he needs his down time.
It can also help you in training him to stop. Give him a "time out" when he is whining to much. I know it sounds harsh but don't reward that type of behavior because it will make him think that it is ok and that when he does it he will get rewarded for it. If you want him to stop then you will have to put your foot down and show him that he doesn't need to whine to get attention.

In all probability the dog is jealous of your time. It is trying to get your attention. And at least at first you probably felt sorry for it and went to the dog. Now you are trying to figure out why? The best advice I can give you is to incorporate into the training of the dog a heel command. Which means the dog learns to lay near you quietly. It will eventually learn that this is what you expect of it.

i have a rat terrier that does that. he cries when he wants to go out, when he's hungry, when he's tired, bored...it never stops. i think it's because i spoiled him as a puppy and now he is like a bratty little kid that wants his way all the time. he doesn't do it when i'm not around, if he's being dog-sat or something.
you can. ignore it and eventually he will learn that he gets nothing. that didn't work for me though, so i got a water bottle and filled it with plain water. every time he cries i squirt him with water. it's to the point now that when i aim it at him he walks away and stops crying.

Training your dog will be a huge part of your interaction with him for the first few months. Learn here https://tr.im/8mL4l
This includes housetraining, leash training, obedience training, socialization, and problem solving. In addition to providing your dog with needed skills, this time will also be a great opportunity for you to bond with him. Take the time to really get to know your pet while training him and a loving relationship will easily develop.

One time when I went to the vet with my dog, one lady came in too. Her beagle was crying like crazy. When costumers wandered why; she said her beagle has an anxiety problem. She also said that when she takes him to her friends the dog is going nuts he will lean on her and cry so loud, it's embarrassing.

I had a puppy who used to do that, i just ignored him although his crying made me sad, but after a while he stopped. So i just gave him the habit of not looking preoccupied when he cries. Now he gets it!

My dog does it, too. He's not done playing yet. It's not crying, per se, it is talking. Sounds like whining or crying to us, but it's his way of trying to get you to play with him.
Dogs are goofy like that.
Give a nice slab of pork ribs. He'll quiet right down. Those "hard bones" can break his teeth. Ribs are softer bones and less likely to injure him.
