If you live in a cold climate, this is the bad time of the year for itchy and dry skin. Find a good moisturizing lotion, or gel. The Gel's are a little thicker, but do the job. Always apply after your showers/baths to wet skin. This will seal the moisture into your skin so much better.

I also occasionally suffer with itchy skin. the two things that I have problems with is 1) I have a food allergy to something, and I break out in hives. I thought this was peanuts, but it is not. Without expensive allergy tests, I can only guess. I take benadryl tablets when I get hives, and I avoid hot water, heat, I wear less clothes, etc as it gets worse if I get overheated. 2) I discovered that in the winter my skin gets so dry, I itch and scratch and actually break out in a rash. Avoid hot baths or showers, or extensive soaking in the tub. Be sure to use a gentle soap on your skin and don't worry about soaping up your whole body every time you shower. Then use Gold Bond cream (get it at walmart,) and slather it all over your body. Do it several times a day, or whenever you feel the need. Other than that, I have no clue. But my experience has been that the doctor's usually don't have a clue either. Have you looked up scabies on the internet? What makes him think it is scabies? Did he take skin scrapings and examine them under a microscope? that is the only way to properly diagnose scabies. If this is the case and it is scabies, then you need to determine who you caught it from and make sure you abstain from sexual contact until this is corrected or you will continually be reinfected. This person will need to seek treatment also or he will continually infect others. If it is, it will help if you wash all your bedding in hot water, then run through the dryer on hot heat. Change your bedding often. also I would wash all my clothes and start fresh. Dry clean all clothing you cannot wash. This will help and it will halt the continual reinfection . I know this must be miserable, and I wish you the best of luck in your treatment. If it is scabies, be very careful who you choose for a sexual partner to prevent this or possible other more serious things from happening to you. Sex should be a wonderful activity to indulge in often, but it needs to be practiced responsibly. Know your partner and his sexual activities.

I would try some hemp lotion from the body shop, it works really good. Also, I know this sounds crazy, but when you get out of the shower/bath just air dry. Drying with a towel sucks the moister right out of your skin. If that doesn't work then I would go to the doc, they can give you something more concentrated. Plus you might have something like eczema that you'll need a medicated lotion for.

I had the same problem plus my skin is very sensitive I even tried all natural products for the heath food stores. The only thing that gave me some comfort was Lubriderm and Aveeno until I started using Mary Kay. I noticed after I started using the shower gel that my skin wasn't as dry (don't get me wrong it was still dry but nothing like before) Now it's all I use Shower Gel, Body lotion and Sugar Scrubs. 2 in 1 shave and wash is my favourite and the new Cellu-Shape makes my skin softer then it has ever been in my whole life.
GOOD LUCK !!!

Well, this could be an eczema type situation, is the skin red and flaky? The other common itchy skin reactions are due to fungal infevctions. There are creams perscribed by your doctor that can easily sort that out. You may have an allergy, think if you've changed your soap powder, bubble bath, soap, shower gel etc? Either way go to you doctor and get it checked out. Good luck.

Mine too! But I live in California and the air has been really dry here, so that's why. Just keep using a lot of lotion. Try one that is high in vitamin E.
Good luck!

If you tend to take long hot showers and you live in an area where the water is treated with clorine you might consider installing a shower water filter which removes clorine before it reaches your skin. Clorine can be a major irritant to your hair and skin. Also, if you live in a colder climate the lack of humidity in the air causes skin to be dry which tends to be itchy.

if you have patchy dry skin on your body and it sometimes sore then it sound like eczema, if not the maybe your skin is just in need of some desperate moisturisation, try rubbing in some moisturising lotion like e45 lotion (not cream)after u shower. i do this as i had the same problem, but no iching since!
