Can someone please tell me why Border Terriers like to sing. Is it because they are unhappy or do they do it because they enjoy it?

I know that border terriers do like to sing but not many of them sing more than any other dog. It's generally a pack instinct, like when one wolf calls out to their pack and the whole pack joins in. It's a way of communication and bonding.

I'm not sure what a Border Terrier is but I've got a Bull Terrier and I know he is very very vocal and will stand in front of us singing his little heart out. I've always believed they do it because they enjoy it.

We had a border terrier and yes she sang to!! She done it because she enjoyed it because whenever she came back from a walk or was in a playing mood she would sing. Also if we began to sing or hum the song she would join in and howl!

I have Boarder and Lakland Terriers and I must admit,
I have never heard them 'sing', my Lakeland is certainly
vocal, and will ask to go out with a whine, also ask for
things with a whine and a look, (the Boarder just stands
behind and reaps the rewards !) but 'sing', well
nothing like Elvis !!

Read up on the history of the breed. That might explain it for you.
