Do you tip your hairdresser? Then you should tip your dogs hair dresser.
No, us groomers do not expect to get tips..noone should EXPECT a tip. But it is a nice gesture that lets us know that all the HARD work we do is appreciated and that you are happy with the service that was provided to you.
How much? There really is no set amount. I would say the same, if not more than what you tip your own stylist. Hairdressers only cut a head of hair that doesn't move. Groomers cut a whole body of hair on something that moves, wiggles, pees, poops, and may try to bite us! LOL

I think an average tip is about 10-15%. I've gotten anything from $1-$50 , cookies, lunch, flowers etc. Not all my customers tip me...alot of people don't even know groomers should be tipped. But like I said, we don't expect anything. Sometimes a big smile and a "thank you so much, fluffy looks wonderful!" is tip enough.

If you are happy with your groomer and you like how your dog looks, go ahead and tip.

As a dog groomer, I can tell you that groomers DO usually get tips. I've gotten everything from a $1 up to $65 (I groom 2 Pekes that are owned by a celebrity and the dogs' nanny - yes nanny - tips me about $65 each time, on top of the fee for the grooming), even more around the holidays. It's like tipping your own hairdresser. Most groomers don't live off of tips, but if you've ever worked as a dog groomer and/or bather for one reasonably busy day, you'd always tip your groomer without a second thought! Not as fun and easy as most people think it is!

I have come to the conclusion that you are supposed to tip just about everyone these days!

I am finding out new ones all the time. Like I didnt know you are supposed to tip your florist (wedding) I found out - from her- much after the fact that she gets tipped.

Everyone who does services likes to get tips, so you could always tip if you want to be nice. But if you don't want to, I don't think dog groomers usually get tips, and they don't expect it, so I wouldn't worry about it.
