I recommend skating to a Ballet or play such as Carmen, Sylvia by Leo Delibes, Bolero by Ravel, and Forest Gump Suite. These songs are good for a skater who does not want to rush their timing. If you rush your timing, you'll end up falling many times in a program. So try to pick as calm song.

This depends on what kind of skater you are. More graceful skaters tend to pick classical music, while more powerful skaters tend to skate to the latest blockbuster movie soundtrack.
There is a decent list of soundtracks related to skating and some are even rated! http://www.sonicedgemusic.com/catalog.html
Another important factor is what level skater you are. For programs that are longer than 1:30, typically the fast-slow-fast approach is most popular. That means that the program starts and ends with quick, upbeat music. One other layout that does appear sometimes, but is harder to skate to, is slow music gradually moving to fast. This type of program takes superior endurance as the hardest, fastest part is at the end, when you are most tired.

you really have to find a piece that you can rellate too and that is easy enough to fit into what you can do. If you ahve good extension and are more gentle you should skate to somthing light and classical sounding. if you are a powerful jumper a more stirring selectio might be better. Try out a lot of things before you decide to have one cut into a program length. IMPROVISE!

Some of my personal favorites:
"All That Jazz" from Chicago-this is so much fun to skate to and the audience always loves it.
The Prologue from the soundtrack from the movie "Anastasia" it was a cartoon movie years ago...the Prologue has a lot of highs and lows for spiral sequences, jumps, spins...
The theme song from "The Mighty Ducks" the hockey players will even love that!
The theme song from "Little Women" that one is awesome. Tara Lipinski skated to it years ago and it was just awesome.
All of these songs I have seen skated to and have been really good.

I was at that level a couple of years ago, and you really want up-beat music. Something to get the judges and audience hooked, which means usually picking a song that is unique that not many have heard. Plus, if you have music with a good beat, it makes it easier stay in time with both music, and tricks!

If you are more of a graceful skater use more classical or symphony's. If you are more of a 'quick' skater you can use jazz or pop from artists.
