It is impossible to know what religion is right. Or if there is a God or not. Maybe everyone should compromise. No one is better than anyone else.Muslims get to eat pork. Christians get to believe that everyone is saved and not just them, this way they will be with everyone they love.Atheists, consider, well maybe there is a God.Jewish people don't have to wear those caps.Buddhist can believe it's possible they will go to heaven and not reincarnate all the time. Just love each other and help each other as much as we can. Go out of your way to not harm anyone.Live in peace with each other.Make a better world than the one we have now.

Why compromising on morality does not work

Unfortunately, compromise is exactly what is going on today. Compromise means tolerating what we think is irrational. For some people it is irrational not to follow God's commandments. For others it is irrational to follow them. Tolerance is the root of war. One can only tolerate to a point. Then one explodes into violence. Peace is not compromise and is not tolerance. Peace comes from logical thinking.

Compromise applies to trade. When we buy and sell we must always compromise. The buyer wants to buy low, the seller wants to sell high: the agreed price is the perfect compromise. This cannot be done with morality. If God says: you are chosen to save the world if you sacrifice yourself to be tortured on a cross, you can't compromise with that principle. Either you believe God is right or you believe God is wrong.

The terrorists of 9/11 had a moral code to follow. They followed what God told them to do.

Many atheists, myself included, do believe that the possibility of a god is there, its just that we choose not to worship any gods. The problem lies when xians try to control society based on the laws they choose to obey within their religion. If xians just stopped whining about the Theory of Evolution and shut up about women's bodies, then we would all just get along fine. Unfortunately, because of xians, there are fights against breakthrough scientific and medical achievements like stem cell research. So until religious people lets society alone, there cannot be any compromise.

I really agree with you that loving and helping each other and making the world a better place should be the goal of everyone, regardless of religious persuasion (or lack thereof). However, I think its ok for each person to pursue this goal in any way they can,. Whatever way they find it easiest to connect with their divine power is ok with me (Jesus, Krishna, Buddha, Mother Earth, Holy Spirit, etc) So I don't see a need for anyone to compromise what they believe in but they do have to be completely accepting of everyone else's right to their own way to worship. The problems come from trying to force others to believe exactly what we believe, instead of recognizing the divine spirit of love in everyone and not worrying about what beliefs allow them to reach and act on this divine nature.

As long as there are differing religions, there will never be compromise. At least, not the way you want it to happen.
There are more accepting people out there, but what you are describing is for all faiths to accept parts of other faiths. And most devoted followers will never let that happen.
I would love to see the world the way you describe it, but that will never happen, as long as there are narrow-minded people out there. And there always will be.

compromise is a lose - lose proposition. Better to trade value for value, win-win.
The glass is both half empty and half full at the same time, which way to you prefer to see it? It matters, because how you see it is how you feel about it, and how you react to it. Lose-lose produces negative feelings and results. Drop the word compromise, if you want to start feeling better about your life.

God. Actually, I prefer battle.

Even supposing this hippie paradise you describe were actually possible to human nature, which it's not, "compromise" only leads to stagnation. If men didn't have the inclination to dominate each other, where do you think we'd be?

NO ,,no need to compromise. we all strongly believe in something and thats why we follow it.
There should be NO COMPROMISE,but UNDERSTANDING between everyone. Follow wat u believe in and let others follow wat they believe in. N need to judge or worry if someone is right or wrong or going to Hell or Heaven. Let GOD be the Judge .
Live and let others live peacefully.
