this started about a month ago, he was neutered about 10 years ago and we have never had this happen before, he keeps getting very randy and trying it on with all the family, or anything else that moves, he has been attacked by the local cats and if we move too fast whilst he is feeling this way he flings himself at you with claws out (its getting quite scary)!. The vet thinks it may be that there are other cats in season, but we have lived in the same place for years, and there is no evidence of cats being in season. I am moving abroad in a few months and really need to sort this out before we go as he is getting himself exhausted and I am worried it will make him ill. Any ideas would be most welcome!!

Try keeping him indoors. It will keep him safe, and minimize contact with other, possibly in season cats.

You've already seen the vet, which is wonderful.

Since he's recently had a run-in with the other local cats, he may be feeling that his territory is threatened and he's being aggressive to reassert his claim over his home turf. He may just need time to work things out and there's not much you can do about it. But if he shows signs of illness like going off his feed, by all means consult your vet again.

Hi, go to my own Q & A and look under questions asked. You will find all you need in that post as I asked the same question a couple of weeks ago.
