You don;t say how long ago you burned your finger but swelling is normal after a burn and no, it does not mean it is filled with pus! If it is a first degree burn....red, swollen but no blisters...normal treatment would be:
1. immerse in cold water (NOT ice..this can cause skin damage) for 5 minutes or until pain lessens
2. cover loosely with gauze (covering a burn lessens the pain)
3. take ibuprofen or motrin for pain

If you have a second degree burn, this is blisters are present, you treat it the exact same way. Do NOT pop the blisters! That leaves you open for infection. The blisters will either absorb or pop on their own. When that occurs, do not rip off the loose skin...let it there to protect the skin underneath.

If you have pus, you would need to see a doctor asap as that means the burn is infected. This would not happen right after a burn as it would take time for an infection to occur. Antibiotics would be needed. If there was pus, you would see it as usually the skin would develop an opening and the pus would ooze out. If you notice red streaks going up your arm, that means infection (cellulitis) and again, a trip to the doctor would be necessary.
