It's his, not yours. Perhaps your own policy would be cheaper at this point in time. Find an independent agent and have him search for you. Do not drop your current insurance until the new policy is in place.

It would be separate. The insurance company would ask if YOU ever had a DUI, ticket, or accident. Now if your father were to be under you, then your insurance would go up, because of his DUI.

have confidence it or no longer, technically speaking, in case you rear end yet another motor vehicle it is your fault. making use of too quickly for situations and rear ending a automobile, besides as DUI, won't purely improve your coverage expenditures critically, you would be sued if your negligence led to an harm to the different driving force. besides the court docket equipment will quickly be prosecuting you for DUI. so which you would be in want of the added cost of an lawyer. If its your first time for a DUI you're able to be able to purely get a drivers license suspension, probation, AA conferences. in case you have had yet another DUI, you're able to get reformatory time and all the different reward of DUI's that the decide could impose on you.

Do you still live with your father? If not, you can qualify for insurance on your own.
Technically everyone in the household has to be declared on your insurance policy and everyone's driving record effects your rates.
Even if you can just go to a separate insurance company and state that you are the only person living in the household you can get a lower rate on your own.
Good luck!

No. In most states it takes at least 5 years for the DUI to be removed from your driving record. You can run but you can't hide from this one. And it's only getting tougher. But differerent states have different time limitations.

if you two are on the same policy then most likely he is a listed driver, so yes your rates will rise. even if you get your own you will have to provide anyone in your house who can drive, if you don't for example and he drives your car one day gets in an accident you can be lose your policy and can get in some serious trouble! you can exempt him its sometimes a pain in the behind to do but it is possible. this is not shown as you having a dui to someone looking at your policy just one of the listed drivers in your household....any questions let me know! its what i do.

Most states require the person who registers the car to carry the insurance, I would do both! Cops run plates and if they see its registared to someone with a DUI they are going to stop you for that reason only, now most states are cop cars with license plate cameras that can scan your plate and run it as you pass them at 70MPH so they are going to be running many more plates.

You can get your own. YOU have no DUI record. Might be a good move too.

Yes, get your own policy and it will be much cheaper. You may want to try getting a quote online. I am paying less than ½ of what I was before.
