I think that they chase their tails because it is a way of playing... my dog does it too. It also deponds on the dog. If they really don't have any toys to play with, they could resort to chasing their tail to occupy time when they are bored. They are either chasing their tails, sleeping, barking, or eating. Or if you have my dog, chewing and shredding things up all over the house.

Cause they can! Just kidding, my dog does the same thing-it's a game they play to see if they can grab it in there mouths. Dogs are funny and they do crazy things.

I DONT KNOW BUT OUR KITTEN "RUCCUS" CHASES HIS TAIL LIKE ITS A STRING, I THINK ITS LIKE A STICK TO THEM TO CHASE/FETCH LOL!
