I'm looking for either nursery rhymes, rhyming books, or just stories. My daughter has plenty of books on animals, animal sounds, ABC's, counting, words, etc. Can anyone just name some fun books that don't neccessarily have to do with learning? Title and Author would be awesome, thanks!

I found a great group of board books by Sandra Boynton. They have alot of animals in them. They are silly and make you and your child have fun at story time. She has also made a CD with a bunch of the animal books put to music. "Pajama Time" and "A to Z" are some of the books.

Just spending a afternoon at the libary with your child you will see what type of book she is drawn to.

I love having lots of books around.

We actually rely very heavily on the input of the staff at the public library as well. They are extremely knowledgeable. Also just let her go to the small children's section and pick out her own books. The price is right and it is a great opportunity to bond with her.

The Seuss books are great because they have super bright pictures, whimsical pictures and funny rhymes, great all around.

As far as the hitting, never ever make a game of it. Don't take it lightly. Put her into a situation where she is having fun, then as soon as she hits, make a very serious face she can see, stand up and walk away from her. OR put her in time out on a bottom step, this is actually best. Never her bed, or she will equate bed with punishment.

Whenever she hits tell her NO, that's not nice. You get a time out! And do not make a big conversation, no talking with her no matter what she says. After one to two min (one per year old) go back, explain what she did wrong and give her a hug.
