Often times, the company who created the "brand label" also bottles'n'cans under a generic label, as well. It also depends on how you intend to utilize the soup, i.e. as a soup or as a sauce or a dip. Store brands can be good, but sometimes they may seem sub-standard (not as good). I'd say sample a couple of off-brands, then invest in what you like best -- or go with what you can better afford. Keep in mind that many grocery stores will sell the brand name labels within pennies of the off-brand, so that's something to consider, as well. I've bought Campbell's cheaper than store-brands countless times!!!

The Campbell's Chunky soups are very good, especially with the new varities. Progresso is good too and comes in a lot of different flavors.

Progresso. Campbell's has MSG. Better yet, make some from scratch...nothing easier than a soup!
