Chivalry still exists for some people. Back in time men and women showed more chivalry to each other. Now its more about "other things" than being chivalrous to each other. I think that both men and women had parts in killing chivalry because we have low expectations toward each other. Also parents don't teach their children chivalry anymore. Most of everything you learn in life comes from home.

I think to a degree its dead with todays generation, the "old school" would always open doors for ladies, let a lady have his seat on the bus, always be aware of letting rip with obsenities when ladies are around,

the majority of to-days generation dont give a hoot for any one outside of there little bubble, have no manners or respect, this is true of both men and women,

but think of society as it is to-day, there is so much distrust, people are frightened to talk to the person next to them on the
bus or tube,
Who's to blame ? after all its the older generation who have educated this generation,
Chivalry is not dead its just gone to rest fo a generation or two

The women's movement killed it, and I've been eating pancakes on its grave ever since. What's chivalry good for, anyway? Women can open doors, too, you know.

Both had a part in it, but alas primarily women...when they stopped expressing appreciation for chivalric and courteous deeds (or even going so far as to shun them) guys became less likely to behave that way...

When a guy does something simple like opens a door for a woman, and instead of a "thank you" he gets a "I can do that myself", what are the chances he's going to keep doing that for women?

I don't think it is dead. My fiance is quite a gentleman, and I know would go out of his way to do anything for me. I think it is all about appreciation for each other. When he does something sweet for me, I always thank him and tell him how special it makes me feel. I think that you should always let the one you love know how much you appreciate those little acts.

And my guy friends are very much the same way. I don't think it is dead, but maybe harder to find.

Women, they wanted to be treated as equals in ALL respects. So men feel like there is no point to be chivalrous.
