The United States are #1 in Greenhouse Gases. China is #2. It is scary knowing what could happen. What do you think we could do?

There are a lot of creative ideas. But we need to take care of the basics.

Conserve energy (tons of websites about how to do that).

Develop alternative energy sources; nuclear, solar, wind, biofuels. This is a big problem, we'll need them all.

Do research into capturing ("sequestering") carbon.

Just planting trees won't do it. This graph shows plants fighting against CO2. The little falls are plants capturing CO2 in the summer and decreasing it, the little rises are wintertime. The huge surge up is us, burning fossil fuels. Unfortunately, we're kicking natures' butt on this one.

There are no easy answers. We're going to have to work hard.

These threads attract a lot of people who want to deny global warming, that argument is better fought elsewhere.

Most of the so called green house gases are not a problem.
The big CO2 is stupid God set up an automatic air recyclers ,and the producing of CO2 is the first step. Mother nature has been recycling for million's of years. Where do u think our original fossil fuels come from. The Methane side is stupid also. Methane is a very light gas and will rise very high in our atmosphere . Now tell me how u measured the methane . I would like to know how u do it . I have bad news for u ,something has happened to your methane. It is all gone.

first make the public aware of the problem and make the leaders of the government responsible for it. For the long term invest money into alternitive fuels such as hydrogen, and for the short term use a lot more biodiesel and ethonal. also go into solar, wind, hydroelectic, and geothermal. Also, it is ridicolous that we are still using cars that get 20mpg at best when we have the technology to get 40 mpg

If man, woman and child planted seven trees each, we wouldn't have a problem. One tree could create enough oxygen for two people and each tree absorbs 48 pounds of CO2 per year.

45 billion new trees would solve a lot of problems. We just need to replace the ones we cut down and then some.
