ok I made a nice Beef Roast for Supper last night in the Crock Pot, after supper i had to leave, my husband was told to remove the inner Crock and place the meat in the Ref, upon my return home after like 8 hours later, I find the Crock still out with the meat inside but unplugged, I placed it in the Ref right away, but would it be still ok to use like in a homemade soup, or should i just throw it out!..........Thanks

If it's cooked, it's probably fine. But remember for next time, husbands never do that kinda thing. They're missing that part of their brain.

You should throw it out! Never eat anything that is in the food danger zone (over 40 degrees and under 140 degress) for more than 4 hours. That being said, a crock pot might stay hot for quite a while unplugged and you might think the meat wasn't in the danger zone for more than 4 hours. Ask you self: is the cost of the roast worth getting sick over? When in doubt, throw it out.

From personal experience I think you would be okay to use. For one reason the crock pot retains heat for a couple hours after being turned off or so I've experience.

If it's been sitting out at room temperature for that long, chances are it will have accumulated bacteria and other nastiness. The degree of such depends whether or not the lid was on at the time.

Personally I'd say it's probably ok to use, as long as it was covered while sitting out and you heat it THOROUGHLY to a high temperature when you use it in your soup. If it was uncovered, chuck it- it isnt worth the risk.

Well I always say when in doubt throw it out.

But my BF and his family leave stuff out and eat it all the time especially stews in big pots.... and so far so good for them.

Maybe if you are heating it up real hot again it should be fine. But I admit I'm a coward. I usually toss and have Ramen.

That's a long time , bacteria start settling in after it begins to cool down ( an hour or so). Be safe and throw it away.

I would throw it out. 8 hours is a long time.
