Can anyone give me an recommedations on which excursions to take for a cruise with carnival to the western carribean in may..were going to be stopping in costa maya, cozumel, belize city, and nassau, bahamas. i want to make sure i dont end up going on crappy excursions not worth our time and money. thanks!

I have cruised carnival two times. I do NOT recommend shore excurision pagckages. You can get the same tours from local tour guides once you arrive at the port for less than 1/2 the price...also you can tell them what you are interested in seeing and you can stay as long or as little as you want at each stop. When you do the ship's excursion packages you are bound by thier time schedule ie. 5 mins at this stop 10 at that one etc.

I alway use the cruise ships excursions except when I have either been to the island before or get specific directions from a friend who has been there already. The expeditions through the cruise line keep in constant contact with your ship and adjust if the ship docks late or the excursion is delayed. To get hundreds of recommendations use cruise addicts.com A great trip in Cozumel is hire your own taxi to go to Chakanab (sp) Its a national park with great snokelling. I bring my own snorkel, mask and fins but you can rent them cheaply at the park. We went on the cave tubing trip in belize. Its in the rainforest. Breathtaking! I'd could tell you to have a great time but I already know you will.

I can suggest when you get to Cozumel, rent a jeep and tour the east side of the island. The only thing about not booking a tour through carnival is if your tour is late getting back to the ship that you booked on your own you'll miss your ship. If snorkeling is your thing just ask the taxi people to take you to a beach where you can snorkel.
Do your research on what to do and see on these islands and than make a decision weather you want to book a tour or go on your own.

go to the carnival website..they list all of the excursions there. been on a couple of cruises...best excursions were the stigrays, "snuba", scuba, belize temple tour and rain forest trip!
