Have you checked out the 20 - 35 year old ladies? For a man, some sort of 'second childhood' thing seems to take place in the age category you're asking about. As a result, these guys figure they can still attract a younger woman, and will continue trying for quite some time. That's why you rarely see older-looking women doing commercials for anything that is traditionally male-oriented activities. Retailers know this; that's why they sell products using these younger females. The retailers know it's the older guys who have a lot of the money, but try and get most guys in that 40 - 50 year old group to buy anything from a woman of the same age; if guys did that, they'd probably enjoy shopping with the wife instead of trying to find some size 4, 20-year old salesgirl to sell him the same product his wife mentioned.
