Yes. Most of the scientific questions that religions answered in the past, have been definitively explained through science. A couple toughies remain, but in time, they will be explained if the religious nuts don't get us all killed.

There are philisophical questions like "Why are we here?" that religions attempt to answer, but each one has its own reasons. By answering the questions, religions take away the quest for knowledge, which is shameful.

During 1800s, Anthropologists had a problem as to how
to classify human beings. One resercher proposed the
expression "intelligent animal". After advanced studies
on monkeys, it was dropped. Another reseacher proposed
"tool using animal". After observing some animals
making wooden tools and sharpening them with knife like
stones, it was dropped. Another researcher proposed
"weapon using animal". A decade ago, a rare film was
shot in African forests. One short monkey was hit very
badly by a big monkey. The short monkey prepared a
wooden knife using stones and hid it on the top of a
tree. After some days, when the big monkey came to
attack the short monkey, it ran up to the tree for the
weapon it has hid and killed the big monkey. The one
thing that the anthropologists found with any group of
human beings, even if they did not have contacts with
the out side world for thousands of years, is
spirituality with some form of religion. So, man is a
"spiritual animal" if you want to call him that way.
"Manush" (human) was so named because he has "Manas" a
mind higher than that of the animals which realises the
divinity in creation. It was present since the creation
of human beings.

Religion is the characteristic feature
of most of the human beings. It is as eternal and
and as unchanging as the Almighty. Disbelief by a
few will not affect it. You certainly have a very
energetic pair of hands. Can you stop the waves
of a sea with your powerful hands?

Well, I was raised a catholic. but I guess I would have to say, im a non practicing catholic, or maybe a "modern" catholic,

cause I don't do church every Sunday,
(I work all week, sundays im usually vegging with my baby or catching up on chores)

don't do the no meat during lent,
(I normally don't eat meat so don't find that to be a sacrifice, take my starbucks, id suffer more, but I find that even taking my starbuck wouldn't better this world we live in, I think during lent we should volunteer in old age homes or something, instead giving up meat)

I believe in contraception, which is technically not allowed etc..
(I think it's a worse evil to bring children to the world when we are not prepared for them)

My point is, even though im not a "practicing catholic" and more a "modern or convenient" catholic, and obviously am not totally sold on all the believes that come along with the catholic faith.

Theres something wonderful about having been raised a catholic. (other faiths too im sure) Maybe some would say its convenient to have a faith, or believe in a higher being.

when im going thru a rough patch in my life, I still find myself going to church, and no I don't go sit at mass for an hour with a bunch of strangers, but I go when mass is over, and have a one on one with my god. And I don't ask for this to happen instead of that, or don't expect answers, I just ask for peace, for peace of mind, peace of heart.

See I believe in a higher being, that knows a lot more than I, that understands what is happening, why its happening. And maybe it is "convenient", but when I've done everything I can do, I hand it over to her/him, and just ask for peace til the patch has passed.

So yeah, im teaching my baby about god & the catholic faith,
because everyone will find themselves at some point in their lives, where they don't have the answers, and maybe nobody does, and its good to have someone else (god) that you believe does have all the answers and will make it better or at least get you past that patch in your life.

so is faith outdated?

NO, i dont think so, in these times, i think we need it more than ever

GO GOD! ! !

In this day and age of sin and degradation where the fulfillment of the basest and most vile desires is more important than helping a starving child I would say yes it does appear to be outdated. But often the things we need most don't fit in with our lifestyles.

Yeh ekdam vaahiyat sawal hai!

Remember that there is no central authority in religion. All of us have the right and capacity to think for ourselves and no one has the right to stop us in believing.

We all need to defend our right to freedom of thought, expression and interpretation. None of us can claim to speak for GOD. We may make mistakes, and we may close the doors of thought and expression because that is simply too dangerous. This is something we need to return to and revive today. We need to revive the culture of tolerance and pluralism where differences of belief are accepted and respected among all of us. We need to understand that the world is complex and differentiated. We do not live in a homogenous world and not in an exclusive religious community.

Science has done more for humanity in the past 100 years than Religion has in the past 1000.

It's not about religion, it about relationships. Religion is a practice that lets people of the same belief have a relationship with God and each other. If you are one to isolate yourself, then yes religion is outdated, but to 99% of the population it is a part of their lifestyle.

Yes I do. I think religion was created when people needed an answer as to how things were made and why they were here but as science caught up to religion it should have died out. Unfortunately, its still hanging on.

Religion is outdated. Religion does nothing for human beings. Religion is associated with formal traditions, creeds, and laws. What is necessary, however, is a relationship with Jesus Christ. He is the savior, the Son of God. He died on the cross and gave His life so that we could have eternal life. All we have to do is admit that we are sinners, believe that Jesus is the Son of God, and confess our sins to him. Religion is man made, but a RELATIONSHIP is essential. Jesus can meet your needs. You must trust Him by faith. God Bless!!

you know, george bernard shaw once wrote that had a man like Muhammad assumed the role of ruler of the modern world, he would bring about great peace and prosperity- this was a non muslim academic speaking

i think only a fool would dissmiss the benefits of religion and religious figures and follow his/her disires in the quest for global peace.
